Driving with my Dad

My father and I got into the old 92 Plymouth and just started off down the highway towards the eastern plains of colorado. He has diabetes, I take care of him.
He wanted to see the rolling grass covered hills of the plains, the pronghorn antelope and see the sun rise and fall above the Colorado prairie. We drove and listened to a Prairie home companion, and discussed life and death. The death of my grandfather, the promise of mortality that will someday claim us all, and we had a good laugh or two about life, and the humor and pun and pathos of existence, of the finite span of our years, and the things we hold dear to our hearts. And we just laughed and traded vulgar jokes, driving way over the speed limit, we enjoyed the 100 plus mph bliss of great american engineering and freedom.
if there is anyone out there that has tried this, do it, just get into the car and go like hell down the highway...find the lost horizen, find the center of your world, and laugh in the face of death, I did and I feel better and so does my father..

Thanx for sharing your experience Jeff. I've recently lost my grandfather and i'd like to have spent more good times with him like the one Jeff describes..So now i promise my self to share more moments with mi father CARPE DIEM

Whether we admit it or not, we are more than the sum of our parts in physical form, we are more than stardust, and energy, we are more than a tiny experiment in the cosmos, we must be something special and unique and yet apart of the great universe that surrounds us. When the fragile shell that keeps us on this earth finally succumbs to our finite limitations, we surely must travel on from one dimension to another, I was raised on the idea that we will continue to exist in one form or another.
