lord of the rings fans read this

movie makers new DVD marketing ploys as metion here

read this... for more info about what i'm talking about
http://entertainment.msn.com/news/ar...px?news=143295
Quote:
"The final installment, "The Return of the King," reveals that Saruman is ... well, where is he? Certainly not in the movie.

Instead, the characters mention perfunctorily that Saruman is powerless — then they move on to the rest of the story."
This is total bs....

Quote:
Jackson promised fans that the sequence would be included in the extended DVD edition of "The Return of the King," which is expected to be released next fall
if you want to see the version that has Saruman and his fight seen w/ grandolf you have to buy the DVD this fall!

Then why see the movie at the theaters? who can wait till his fall? not that many not even me. not that haven’t thought of getting rid of my tickets.... but the whole point it to make you watch the movie, and then MAKE you buy the dvd so you can see all the really good stuff and a magor part of the movie ( and of the book it''s based off of)... . they it cut out on purpose.... it's all a stupid marketing ploy with out doubt

their should be a mention ... most people don’t know this was cut out, but i'm sure many have noticed he's not in any of the commercials

people out to not see it... instead of a petition to put the scenes back in there should of been one that says put them back in or we will not go and see the movie or buy the DVD....

I know i wont be "buying" the DVD ....
though i will enjoy watching it...

Somehow I don't think it was their decision... most likely it was some ass from whatever company is distributing the movie (don't remember). They have a real nack to kill stuff like that for the sake of making it fit within a certain amount of time rather than have it completely run.... I think the audience for these kinds of movies could care less if the movie was 4 hours long, they'd go and see it anyway! They have to remember that they aren't selling a movie anymore: they are selling the experience you get from watching it on a bigass screen in surround sound that can make your gut vibrate (IMAX anyone?). They'll only be selling movies once they decide to ship it on DVD, and even then it'll most likely be for the extras since most of the time you can only download the movie portion from those nice people who share files . 9 to 12 disk complete DVD LOTR set anyone?

Actually it was Peter Jackson who made the decision to cut it

No one else. Not a studio head or anything.

Now that being said they have released extended editions of the first 2 films as well.

I personally dont see an issue with this as there is no way to get the run time in theaters with the length of the extended edition movies.

Now on the other hand Peter Jackson is now rewriting Tolkien.

I had no issues at all with his rearranging the order of some scenes in order to make it work well on the screen.

However by having Arwen actually sail to the undying lands and having Saruman disappear and not taking over the shire...

I mean I can pretty much tell you why this happened.

Christoper Lee (Saruman) is an old acquaintence of Tolkien. He also reads the trilogy once every single year. He is about staying true to the story and not dismissing that Tolkien knew what he was doing.

Peter Jackson started thinking he could tell the story better than Tolkien but rewriting a lot of the last "act" of LOTR. Christopher Lee had an issue with it so PJ said, "Bye Bye Bye" to Saruman.

Now there is legal actions going on behind the scenes and no one can talk about what is really going on.

Should make for an interesting commentary if they even acknowledge it in the EE

I hope Peter Jackson gets what he diserves, people want to see the movie as if it was right from the book. We don't care about his version of it, we could care less.

something I saw today in one of my IRC channels, its amusing - a comment from a user, ive had to edit text to protect our younger members !

[costila] There are shots of Gandalf riding a heretofor unmentioned gigantic eagle like a horse, right? So why didn't anyone think to summon these F*&king dumb-ass eagles like 10 movie hours ago and just hitch a ride to Mordor? It's F(*&ing ridiculous.

i'm not sure if you meant that to make the guy look stupid or the movie look stupid, but either way, i will explain. the nazgul can see things in the sky etc. also, the birds/crows have become sauron's spies. thus, if the ring is seen floating in the sky, it is extremely vulnerable.

Not to mention that guy also didnt seem to watch the first movie either

That "eagle" was what Gandalf used to ride away from Isengaard after getting his ass handed to him by Saruman
