Wow kids can be smart!
My little girl is 6 years old and she can read so well! She sounds out words perfectly.
And she can spell as well, she even out spelled me a while ago. ![]() She got on my lap after watching her Rudolph christmas DVD. And she wanted to go to Rudoph.com. I didn't know if there even was a Rudolph.com (Theres not) but I also couldn't spell Rudolph! So my 6 year old little baby gurl sit here and told her daddy how to spell Rudolph and she was right! Also once tonight I was on here and she read my screen name in my sig! She was just standing here and I heard her say Ven-gea-nce! Then she goes "That says Vengeance daddy" I was sitting here with my mouth open! All of this plus a whole lot more. All in the first grade. But on the other side of the coin we have my son. Who is 5, and not too bright When I was a kid I knew where my mom and dad hid me and my brothers christmas gifts. It was always in my moms walk in closet. So every year for a long time I would always sneak in there for a little look. And I never told anyone! So lastnight my boy come running in here to me and he goes "Daddy, I know what I'm getting for christmas" I wasn't paying much attention to him, I just said "oh yeah, what?" And this little bugger starts to tell me about all kinds of stuff he saw in our closet! Me and my wife have one walk in closet in our room, I even have a big living room chair in there that I push up against the door. He moved it, and got in the closet! He just wasn't smart enough not to tell anyone! And btw, the only reason I spelled Rudolph right here in this post is because I have an IE spell checker

kids will surprise you
my grand daughter just turned 5 last month, and since she was 3 months old I have been here day care provider for three days every week.
at times I would have to take care of some things on the computer, and would hold her on my lap while I went about doing what I had to do. As she became older and started pointing at things and going "dah, dah!" I would point to the monitor, keyboard, cpu, printer, mouse and say their respective names. when she was about a year and a half old she would watch her cartoons, and they would advertise their .com addresses, and she would come to me and say, "papa, I want to go to PlayhouseDisney.com" so we would go to the computer room, she would get on my lap and I would have her hold the mouse, my hand over hers, and I started showing her how to get online, how to type in a URL address, how to save the site to "favorites" and quickly, over the next 6 months or so she became really good and surfing around, using back buttons, minimizing one window to use another, and clicking and dragging. she turns the computer on, names each piece of equipment, jumps up in the chair, fires up the modem, turns on my av and spyware blocker programs, and starts cruising the children's internet. I worked with guys at work who after a couple of years couldn't do what she does as easily as she does it. If someone is here at the house visiting, and she happens to pass through the living room and says to me, "Papa, is it ok if I fire up the pc and jump on line?" the people's mouths fall open and they can't believe it. Kids will amaze you~ River

craigmci
I have used the Cats as they have come out, and then switched to the Omegas when they follow.
currently have the omega 3.10's in. have not had any serious problems with any of the sets; ATI or Omega, though some have been better than others.

craigmci please start a thread about the Cat drivers and Dell PC's in the Driver section. This thread is about how smart my little girl is and how dumb my little boy is And BTW I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and I run Cat drivers. But I put in my own 9800Pro.

Its well known females are much faster learners and are generally more intelligent when at the same young age. You could of course reverse the tables and put a woman in front of a computer at the age of 30 and have a good argument the other way.
![]() no offense to our female members (who are WAY above the normal) of course but I think even they will agree with me, generally woman and technology dont mix

Yup, just trying to teach my aunt (who's middle-aged) how to surf and use email (webbased and Outlook) was a real trying experience. She's a teacher and had to learn these things since the school went over to a nearly paperless grading system (all stuff is input into a big ass database of teachers and their students). It's really nice and she even got a school issued laptop (P4-M 2.0 ghz, ATI 7500, general sweetness) and they get to buy it from the school in three-five years for $1!
![]() I can still remember my computer experience when I was little (7 or 8). My bro had bought his first computer (386dx, 8megs of ram, 512K video card, 100meg hd). He had come off learning how to program/use Commodor 64's and just about all the Atari's to that point (with tape drives and tons of games). It was a pain learning DOS, but he made an interesting .bat file system that allowed the execution of games and such very easy (that and DOS 5.0 included DOShell). Doom and Rise of the Triad brought me further into computers and made me learn DOS commands to use external .wad files. Then I bought Doom tool CDs and began making levels and even hacking Doom (made the exploding barrels in giant leaking Durasmell batteries and the rockets into flying 'nades)! Damn that was fun! Even my best friend joined me in the fun! After a while we got a Sound Blaster 16 and Windows 3.1, so we had fun using the Sound Recorder app and recording ourselves and making stuff slower and adding reverb to certain parts to sound all goofy. Surprisingly I still have all those files. Damn, those were great times... but unfortunately I became uninterested in outdoor activities... All you with kids that are learning how to use Windows and surf and such need to be sure to encourage physical activity or otherwise they will just be satisfied with the computer experience and sit on their bum all day. Karate classes are always a great thing to get them into, it's really worked on my aunt's granddaughter. She likes the computer but not to the point where she'll spend all day on it. She actually seeks out something else to do after a while. ~eyeguy616 |

Yea my little 3 year old daughter never stops amazing me. She has known her ABC's since just before her 2nd birthday and can currently count to 25. On a scarry note.... she can turn on the stereo receiver, turn on the tv, turn on the DVD player and load a DVD... No I am not kidding.... Should have seen the look on my face the first time I saw here do that.... Yes little kids are incredable learners.. there are TONS of other things I could tell you about my daughter and even some of her little friends.... those little minds work so hard and take so much in it isn't even funny.
