Been a VERY Busy Month
This isn't any complaint, per se, but, I've been really busy in my work this month. One of my customers bought a house about mid-November and discovered it had plastic water pipes inside the house. Also, the main water line from the meter to the inside shut-off valve is the now-illegal polybutylene (blue) pipe. I was contracted to swap out all of this plastic pipe and illegal pipe with copper inside and acceptable pipe for the main line.
They weren't supposed to have moved into the house immediately according to the original plans they laid out. However, that changed the day they closed on the house. They started moving in immediately! That's meant that I've been having to cut holes in the ceilings and walls of the house while they are living there. Then I've had to pull plastic pipe and install soft copper piping and make all the hookups and make sure they have running water each night before I leave. If they'd have waited the 8-10 days like they originally had planned, it would have been incredibly less of a problem.
At any rate, I've now completed all the interior pipe swapping and all the walls and ceiling patching and painting. Now I only have to install the new main pipe outside.
Along the way, there have been other things develop that made this job even more time consuming. Once they moved in they discovered that the upstairs master bathroom garden tub leaked. Also, the master bathroom toilet leaked when it was flushed. These leaks damaged the ceiling in the family room directly below.
All in all, this has been one of those jobs that you find yourself VERY happy to see the end of it in sight.
