Boy Grabs Knife After Dad Pulls Plug on Videogame

"HONG KONG (Reuters) - A 13-year-old Hong Kong boy flew into a rage and threatened his parents with a kitchen knife after his father pulled the plug on his computer game, police said on Monday.

"The boy's mother told police the boy was thrashing about with a knife. Nobody was charged," a police spokeswoman said.

The father managed to overpower the boy and no one was injured in the fracas early on Sunday morning, a local newspaper reported.

The father pulled the plug on the game at around midnight when the boy refused to stop playing and go to bed."

Oddly Enough - Reuters News

The missing information: What game was he playing?

For me to releave stress......I prefer a very heavy steal front end guard on my truck. I have found that road rage is quite enjoyable. The site of watching cars spin out.....and flip over in the ditch.....is very relaxing. Not to mention very fun!! Of course you do end up with the occasional fatallity, but that is only when cruising the sidewalk in town. It is always the cripples that are slow to get out of the way.

I blame it on bad parenting - any well raised child, in my opinion, wouldn't ever pull a knife, especially over something that the parents seem to have let him get addicted to

When I was younger and got frustrated with life, and console games were crappy- I used to go lift weights and or go ride my bike, or my 3 wheeler. Yes, back then they were legal. I must have been pissed off allot, I got up to benching 235+ lbs without a spotter. When I was 13 if pulled a knife on my father he would have kicked my ass into next week. Even though I would have never done that in the first place, I think the kid in the article is just messed up in the head. Video game had nothing to do with it, it could have been anything.

couldnt have said it better myself BWX kids today have no respect for their parents. the media passing the blame onto computer games, movies whatever is the scapegoat for the week is pathetic - its the change in society and parents who cant be assed to take time with their kids. For many young kids, the computer is now all they have for "communication", its very sad.

If the children know they are loved, that their thoughts and feelings are heard, they generally will follow the lead of their parents (because an emotional foundation of care and trust is established) when the parents tell them to do a particular thing.

Willing to bet that child got very little else than a hard time from that parent...

Edit: Circumstances being what they might be, that child could just as well have been watching his favorite TV show. Kids are pretty savvy for the most part about games - once they realize the difference between right and wrong, and are taught about the consequences by the ... parents.

This is why hitting your kids is good. Let them know who is boss. If that dad had whailed on his kids butt when he was younger that kid would have gone to bed without the dad having to pull the plug.

As Maddox says if your kid is not curled up in a ball when you come home you have failed as a parent .

If i ever did that to my Dad i would get spanked all the way to China, kids in our days have no respect for their parents. And guess ho's to blame? The parents of course. Why have children, if you know your not gonna have time for them? Thats just dumb! Any kid needs lots of atention while growing up, i know of kids that do all kinds of S**t, including taking drugs, just to get their parents atention, now thats extreme...i really dont know whats going on in our days. Parents are so into their jobs that they cant even find time for themselves, and thats just sad. Do not go blaming video games for your kids problems, cuz most of the times its confortable for parents to have their kids watching Tv and playing video games, cuz thats bether then fiding time to do things with them. This is just a f**ktup society we life in...
