Dont know if you seen this before..but...this just made me sad, a bit harsh punishment for stealing some lousy wood, dont you think...?

Oh my God... That' is soo sad. I am stationed in the Middle East right now in a country called Bahrain. It's an island off the coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf. It is a Naval base and the CENTCOM for 5th Fleet Forces... Seeing things like this make me realize how much of a mistake I had made joining the military. I enjoy serving my country, but at the same time I feel like there are some people in the Armed Forces who don't belong here.. These few Army soldier's were obviously just picking on these poor middle-eastern people... I live in a city full of poor people like this, and they never mean any harm. This is what happen's when you give a "thug" off the streets the right to play around in a 3rd world country with a tank.

I don't think it's about our President. Of course, he is the sole reason we have so many troops in Iraq, it's not the fact that him being our President makes them be mean to the Iraqi's. It's that most people look down on them. They are not sympathetic towards them. There is an old muslim man that sits outside of my flat with a bucket and washcloth every night. I usually throw him some change to wash my car. He works his old butt off, and washes every nook and cranny of my car. He also kisses the change that I give him. What might seem a small amount of money to one person is a weeks worth of food for another. I'm not saying that I love charity or anything, but in this part of the world, there is no "middle class". The people here either ride rusty bicycles or drive BMW 725i's. Period. And this is what is sad about this part of the world. They will spend 250 grand on a car but not give a grand to their community to help out with the poor. I'm just rambling anyways, all I'm trying to say is that I live here, I see these people, and I feel sorry for them. But I DO NOT feel as though America can truely help them.

Why after reading this and watching the thing it comes off as a big ass fake. The camera popping around to the soldier's only to go away from his face and the shot wide enough to see the other camera man. It is fake.

That is exactly my point. There isn't one when if it was real, one would be there. Also, the convenience of the camera going here and there. If this was real, it would be all over the news.

Whether or not the video is real isn't really the point... When you take soldiers whos job is to fight and put them in a powerful position such as enforcing laws, things like this are bound to happen. There is no real legal court system to go by, so soldiers might make up their own punishments.

I know where you are coming from, I too have worked in third world countries and it brings a tear to ya eye seeing these people go without, and when you pass them a gold coin their eyes light up and burn like little lantins with excitement and they would do anything to help you out, like the man that cleans your car. This world is F****d and only man can be responsible with his sick mentality and evil mind - The West springs to mind.

There is a lesson to be learnt from all this, when you see someone go without on the street, give them some $ so they can sleep knowing that they can eat the next day.

I too need to remember, many times I just walk on by.

Yeah.....it's real. And these soldiers were doing nothing more than following order's that were given to them by superior's.......in this case......CENTCOM. The main reason for it.....if they take the wood away and arrest the people......they will just go and do it again. If they leave the car there, someone else will take it and use it to haul whatever they could steal as well. Or the car could be taken and used for a car bomb. If they would of been caught stealing when Saddam was in charge.....they would of been killed on spot....or most likely in the town square or soccer field......and done as entertainment.

It is a war. There are people getting killed everyday. The little old man that is washing your car one day, could be planting a bomb in it the next, or even collecting information on several peoples habits so that they can kill even more of you when you are at chow or something.

This is Iraq.......a combat zone........you trust no one and NEVER let up your gaurd. Oh and keep in mind.......during that looting....people were killing each other trying to steal shit.....it was maddness. Only those people that were in Iraq would really understand, and the same goes for every other major conflict that the USA, Britian, France, Russia, or any country in a major war.....only those people that were there on the ground can understand.

The film is real, the message that the commentator is putting out is BS. It is all completely taken out of context to look bad. And THAT is sad.
