File Sharing Legal in Canada
Sharing copyrighted works on peer-to-peer networks is legal in Canada, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday, handing the record industry a sharp setback in its international fight against file swappers.
Canadian record labels had asked the court for authorization to identify 29 alleged file-swappers in that country, in preparation for suing them for copyright infringement, much as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has sued more than 1500 people in America. But the judge denied that request. In a far-ranging decision, the court further found that both downloading music and putting it in a shared folder available to other people online appeared to be legal in Canada. Source....

no the reason why they are losing money is people today make CRAPPY cds, rarely do you see a really amazing CD. and they are overprice, ok I don't mind paying 8 bucks for a cd but 16 or even 17? That could get me fed pretty well at a decent restaraunt. Only CDs i consider buying are the new artists to get them started and since being unique makes the artist "new" in a way, they make more sales. A band who scream like retards and sobbing like idiots, or a group of thugs who talk about ridin caddies and drinkin chrissy with the same beat are for sure to get downloaded. |

17$ for a cd?.... your lucky... it's 30$ over here... Canada has a tax on all media already though.... very small.. but it was established a very long time ago.. making it perfectly legal to transfer music from LP's to 8 tracks.. and on.....
