Default Post Cologne, Germany........

I was going to post this in the flame section but as the threads in the flame section frequently end up in "my computer is faster than yours, and you fucking suck you asshole", im hoping for a (semi) intelligent discussion in the off topic.

I ordered a package last week via UPS in USA to get to Ireland, with the original time scale being a monday delivery.

Monday arrives, I go online to track the package, its going to Aberdeen Scotland, I phone USA customer support, nice girl, blah blah, she refers me to UK support as she cant do anything here, nor can she call the sender as her phone doesnt support outside phone calls.
An input error on the postcode caused all this.

I contact UK customer support, and after 1 hour of talking and explaining the situation they fix the address and postal code, "it will be there tomorrow sir". excellent I think.

Tuesday arrives, nothing, but a guy from UPS UK calls to explain the package has been delayed in transit and is currently in England and he guarantees it will be with me tomorrow. (I ask girlfriend to stay in house for this today).

Wednesday, nothing arrives, well bills as usual, but no package. another guy phones with the apology that the package will be with me tomorrow as its not been collected by UPS in england to be shipped but its in the UK warehouse.

Thursday, 3pm, still nothing, so I decide to phone support, give another guy my tracking number and explain the events of the last few days.

"sorry sir, but emmm, the package is now in Cologne, Germany."

"may I ask why?" I say, trying to remain at least in some way civil.

"Well, I know this is hard to understand sir, but all our packages are firstly shipped to cologne germany to be sent out to our customers, and it appears that your package although sent last night has been left in the warehouse in Cologne, ill make sure it gets to you tomorrow, guaranteed".

"so, what you are saying is, the package started in Atlanta, USA, a UPS inputer placed the wrong postal code, so it was shipped to Scotland, then halted in england, then sent to cologne?"

"yes sir, im sorry, but ill personally track this package myself, and ill call you MYSELF in work tomorrow to ensure you get it".

Right now, I would like to get one of the major managers in UPS, stick this package up his ass, sideways .... and while im on the subject ... I wish I was in Cologne, with a few nice blonde ladies and some good german beer.

oh yes, and UPS suck. anyone else had wonderful experiences with shipping companies please share, and more importantly are any of them GOOD ??????

ill be sure to reply to this thread, tomorrow, guaranteed

I'd say a shipping refund is definitely in order!

Most definitely. I always go with FedEx, they are reliable and don't try to lie to you about everything. They seem to never be late, and when they are, it's only by one day MAX!

i actually have had good experiences with ups, and not with fedex (i'm the walking contradiction... winxp anyone?). never has a package of mine been late, in fact i got a 3 day package the day after i ordered, but because i wasn't expecting it, no one was home. to make a long story short, ups's policy is that they try to deliver it 3 times, and then they keep it at the warehouse. anyway, they tried 3 times before they should have even tried the first time. i ended up having to track it down at the warehouse myself.

[edit] hmm... my post 911, right below skastel's post 119...[/edit]

FedEx is the best. My packages are always on time, if not early. Never had problem with them.

UPS does not stand for United Parcel Service, it's actually an alternative spelling for the word most commonly uttered by UPS employees. "OOPS"
