2 year anniversary

I can recall two years ago, when I stumbled upon this site, after watching someone at a computer store download something. I was intrigued and kept hanging around the store till he told me about Driverheaven. This fellow said it was free, and it was cool and worthwhile. I joined and I can truthfully say it is absolutely one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have had some ups and downs and dangerous issues with sobriety and friendship. And I have made some friends here too, friends for life and friends I can trust. And there are those that I have known, those that have past, and those that have moved on. But here I have found solace, friendship, warmth, humour, and good advice, and occasionally I have heard what I needed to hear and not necessarily what I wanted to hear,

Here I have found a place of power and of knowlege, and I would like to say on behalf of those that I have known and I have embraced as friends, that I truly enjoy this site. I hope that when another two years go by, and if God is willing and i am still here, that I can post another thankyou to Allan and the crew for a wonderful job, a wonderful site, and a pleasure to be here..
For all of you that come here, for whatever reason, if you enjoy it and you come back this place is so much the better for it. God Bless all of you and take care, it can only get better..

I thought perhaps I would just say thanx for the effort, the seamless transitions for us to go from forum to forum and talk about anything with a level of propriety that keeps it several tiers above the other sites. with all of our cumulative personalities, DH has its own personality, and that I believe is what makes it "real" in this phony world.

yeah, stig, its amazing what we have all been through, all of us, with our issues, problems and transitions, and the most constant thing in the world, change, DH has flexibility and durability, Like a fine Katana, forged of different qualities, it keeps its fine edge, and like the hand that wields the pen or a paintbrush, it remains one in the same in the mind of the user, it can be many things. The Karma here is very good.

what I like is the momentum that seems to have developed in the thrust of the site, the mission as it were, it never strays much, always focused on an objective, difficult to put that into words really, but reminds me of a train that will take you anywhere you want to go in the industry, all you have to do is get on, and the ride is free, and when you want to get off, no problem, you can get off and come back when you wish...just have to respect the conductor and the engineer..lol.

Probably a bad analogy, but we travel through life by ourselves so often it seems rather solitary, this path we take, but here we can all get on for a bit, and just be ourselves and allow ourselves to exhange the very thing that creates interest. We can stay on this train till it takes down the tracks to a certain point.

I mean when Roadee passed, I really felt it was going to happen eventually, I know that sounds terrible, but I feel fortunate to have seen a bit of him, in his spirit, his wit, his humour and his character.
I think we see that in everyone that comes here too, we are all fortunate to have a place, where we can just be ourselves or anything else we want to be..lol.

In this highly impersonal world, DH is an anachronism, an enigma, it is alive because we make it so, and yet it is nothing more than the sum of our efforts that make it real.

An Oasis in time and space, existing all over the world and yet taking up no space at all. It is and it isnt...now thats cool...

You have, as pr0digal mentioned, a wonderful way of poetically conversing with written speech those feelings I as well have about calling DH home on the web. Your heartfelt and thoughtful expressions are a blessing for me as I come across them - be they written or pictorial.

Jeffy i feel really lucky to call you my friend. You are one of the great ones, a poet...an artist..a friend..a dad...a person...not many are lucky enough to make a diference in someones life, i believe you have touched so many with your art...personality.. friendship..your are a great man. Im happy to have known you and just wish you all the best. Helios I am fortunate to have met you online and others, I can say without reservation that many people here raised my spirits and make me laugh as well as remind me I am not the center of the universe, lol.
This evening I gave an Intel 865 PERL board to a friend in need along with a powersupply, we modded his 9800 pro card too, and upgraded his heatsink, I showed how to use my Fordam power equipment and do precise work on the heat sink with it, how to polish the surface and to properly seat it. I met this fellow here, and he is a fellow DH member. The board I gave away was given to me, along with a CPU and memory when I needed help by a another fellow DH member as well.
I recall helping another young DH member with lots of issues and problems find some kind of direction in her life.
I stay in touch with another young DH member that will become a captian of industry one day, she is working her butt off at MacDonalds in Takoma, going to college and keeping it all together, her friendship is priceless.
And the humour, the revelry, the oppurtunity to help my friends out as well as being helped. Its all worth it.
And when the car is wrecked again, and the folks are sick, and I am down to my last dollar and my last poptart, I come here for solace and relief, all of you guys are wonderful......a little crazy perhaps and a little intense but nonetheless part a wonderful process of communication, that is the biggest thing I enjoy.

Yep thats the Jeff i know, and thats why you mean so much to alot of people, me included. I find DriverHeaven to be a very singular place, what are the odds of a group of people from all over the world to meet in a internet forum and build a "family" type of place like this. I really am serious when i sometimes say that Dh is my online family, if you come to think of it, all the regular members that know each other the most do act in some way like a family. They now the others personalitys, the way they think about some subject, the way to bug the hell out of them

, but still i think theirs a sense of friendship that you cant find anywhere else. I mean, when Joe died, God rest his soul, i would never think i could get so afected by a person i meet over the net. Joe became my friend and trusted me with alot of stuff, personal and professional, i would never expected that i could like a guy so much that i never meet in person. I have spend alot of my time here, made friends, helped people, got helped, laughed and...cried...really something to think about...
