Default Post Stupid People

What are some of the stupidest things you have seen people do?

I saw a guy try to put a sound card in his pc while it was on, the fireworks were superb.

Or using the mouse for a foot pedal?

My personal favorite though has to be the "IT Administrator" hired by Prudential years ago, stolen away from Compaq (she claimed, I think she got fired for gross stupidity). Working with a PC one day. Trying to get it working. Getting frustrated, repeatedly flipping the power switch (they had big red switches back then) and getting no results.

I ask: "Is it plugged in?"

"Yes" she hisses.

After another 5 minutes of pounding (and keeping me from getting anything done) I walked over to observe a decided lack of power cords connected to the back of the machine. I removed a power cord from an unused dumb terminal, walked over, plugged it in, and to her chagrin, turned the PC on.

"It works better with AC power."

someone trying to accelerate hard on a turn in rain with rear wheel drive... ended up doing a 180 in front of me and nearly causing a 4 car pileup.

While I was in court one day a guy who had just been given a 7 sentence for armed robbery pulls out his wallet, flips it open like one of the communicators from the original Star Trek and says “Scotty beam me up there’s no intelligent life down here".
The entire court room bursts out laughing except for the judge, who's face turned a bright shade of red, and gave the guy one more year for contempt of court.

And I'd do it again!

I know a doofus that erased his system.ini file out of his PC and expected ME to fix it for him instantly! It was absolutely GONE!

I remember another dude back in the C64 days that was amazed that a program would still run when the disk was removed.

I knew a lady that had about 20 tasks running in the system tray(no kiddin') and wondered why her PC was so slow.

I knew a girl that expected me to live with her and watch her kids for her without "getting any"

I had a teacher in grade-school whom I regularly corrected her spelling on the black-board.

I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I know alot of stupid people. I mostly stay in the house nowadays.
