PS2 component video cable question
guys just got a 46" sony projection HDTV (remember told you guys about it last dec/jan?) and im planning to get the component video cables.
i know certain games support the higher res, but was wondering if my regular games will get a slightly better (noticable) IQ increase, and with DVDs since i cant afford a home theatre with decent DVD just yet. move this thread to another area if you feel it is not in the suitable forum |

Depending on the TV you had before, you will. If the new TV (which I'm sure does) supports the maxmum possible lines of resolution for DVDs and games.

this is what i have http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...th=32050n32053 and these are the special cables i wanna get http://www.us.playstation.com/periph...id=SCPH-10100U i use the regular rca a/v cable, decent picture quality. with the new one just wondering would i see stuff more clear in standard games since its being broken up. i know certain games support 480i or wutever (which i am 100% will work on mine) but just dont wanna go buy it if its only for games that support it and get absolutely no diff on regular games |

What TV did you have before? That Sony will give you maximum clarity but if your previous TV did also then you wouldn't notice anything.

i mean its kinda hard to compare it Dom, obviously your getting less jaggies since ur showing a smaller image on a smaller tv. |

so your definitely sure i should see a IQ increase with the component cables over the RCA cables on my new projection without 480p, lol cause i dont wanna waste any cash on something so slight. i know for DVD i will since progressive scan is supported always. |

ok well i got the new component cables from sony (guy said monster isnt gonna make a diff cept thicker wires)
and its FREAKING INSANE the IQ is 5x better, mortal kombat deception on progressive makes it looks like the screenshots. final fantasy X feels epic and mgs3 feels so much smoother and realistic. the jaggies arent reduced exactly, rather transfered so its kinda filtered better, hard to explain really. but the color is topnotch. thanks for the advice, and i also picked up the sony dvd remote for 20 bucks dvds are awesome now with progressive! |

I was always told not to use a rear projection TV for games consoles or PC's because of the likelihood of screen burn. Might want to check before you do some damage.
Edit: done a little research and people are split 50:50 on the issue. Not sure i'd risk it though. Last edited by Lelisevis; Oct 19, 2004 at 02:01 AM. |

as far as projection TVs go..i think it mostly depends on how old yer TV is. Also, as long as you have the proper equipment (i think they actually make an HDTV adapter for xbox..nto sure about ps2) you should be set
