i'm interested in that stuff... i know "of" those to subjects.. nothing much at all though.. just that i've heard of those 2 terms and a bit about them (although i might be getting them confused with other things)
Dark Mass being another possiblity

Dark matter i believe (if i understood correctly) is a super heavy and highly gravitational form of matter... I think it's theorized to be on the verge of being a subspace form of energy that can effect things in normal space. As far as that i'm unsure of any more details.. or if i got what i know is even right... Anti-matter is pretty self explanitory i think PJ ![]() Dark Matter and Dark Energy i think are the same thing.... or somewhat related.... (would make sence)

Dark Energy is related but different... it is the thing that is believed to be causing the acceleration of the expansion of the universe. It is the residual energy in empty space. It is gravitationally repulsive. It is spread throughout the universe and appears to contribute to 70% of the energy density of the universe. It's existance was inferred by the happenings of a distant supernova and from combining CMBR anisotropy measurements with measurements of the density of dark matter. The cosmological constant is considered to be a particular form of Dark Energy and other candidates for Dark Energy include a very light scalar field. It is a large, negative pressure which may also help to explain the vacuum of space. Anti-matter is matter composed from antiparticles... they are just like ordinary protons and electrons except they are oppositely charged (anti-protons, positrons)... when anti-matter and matter collide both are destroyed and other elementary particles are produced.... like photons. Particles with properties like these have been produced in particle accelerators. |

Hey Tasty,
Haven't read it in a couple years, but do enjoy Scientific American a lot. The most recent Discover magazine has a lot of interesting stuff on Einstein himself, with a lot of viewpoints on the theories he postulated... Yeah, dark matter is basically matter that absorbs (rather than reflecting - which is how we observe things) most radiation, visible and otherwise, and thus escapes direct detection. Oh, so Dark Energy (didn't know what that was...) could be considered anti-gravity? If so, imagine if we could harness it! There's your flying saucers, elevators to the moon...
