Heres thing's to stay away from saying/ doing when selling on ebay...
-"COMPLETE" kit - ( dont ever say the word complete unless your 225% positive its complete). -"POSSIBLY/ MAYBE/ KINDA" - self explanitory... - "AS IS" - Try not to say "as-is" if the item is brand new never opened because people will think "Oh...there might be something wrong with it." -Dont sell something for $1.00 and charge $35.00 for shipping, you can get away with it but its just wrong and its a good way to get a bad reputation. BAD REPUTATION SPREADS QUICKER THAN GOOD! -Check email constantly, always keep good communication with the buyer or even random questions from potential buyers. -write a good description with 100% correct grammer and spelling. -3 day autions....usually the fony stuff is placed as a 3 day auction...just keep that in mind... (please add to this guys) keep it on the subject

For bidding, Always check delivery cost and accepted payment methods, read the entire item description twice at least.
If the auction title isn't precise i.e.: "ATI 9800 X800 X800XT" Stay clear. Be cautious of 0 feedback, ok everybody has to start somewhere, but just bare it in mind. Before leaving negative feedback and possibly jeopardising your own feedback rating, talk to the person, see if you can't talk it out. Nobody wants negative vibes. Seek clarification from the seller on item specifics if unsure and keep a record of the communication. And most important: Common Sense. You ain't gonna pick up a AMDFX55 for $50 be realisitic about bargains. |

Pictures - A must. If you can't take your own pictures, look on images.google.com and try to find something extact for your item..If condition is an issue, or the model/type/whatever isn't quite the same make sure you indicate that on the page..
To me, as a buyer, not having images or having some obvious photoshop'ed junk ripped from something else are things to run from..

BUYING TIPS:
-Never buy from someone that has less than 25 positive feedbacks. -Common Sence is a very big must. -Keep in mind that some people are a sham! (thats where common sence comes into play. -Look for words such as: "NIB" (new in box) "NR" (no reserve price) "As-Is" (no gaurantee of anything, once u buy it, you own it plain and simple... no if's, and's, or but's!) "All sales Final" (^^^ (same))

as-is and All sales are final are well and good UNLESS the person makes garuntees. At that point, there are other issues. Such as if the person garuntees that it is an X800 XT and sends you a PRO with a flashed bios. That is false advertising and no matter what it says about "AS-IS" or whatever, you should fight it. Its just lame otherwise. And trust me, Ebay will back you up and help you out on it if you need. Saying "as-is" is only protection against being scammed by a buyer, but if a buyer is scammed it in no way should protect the seller.
another thing is that 3day auctions arent generally phony if it is a large company selling MANY of the exact same item. In that case it is even common for there to be one day only auctions. In those cases it might not be so bad. ALWAYS BE VIGILANT! Check feedback. READ the negative feedback. As much of it as you can really. And even if there is only one day left on an item that you're bidding on, shoot an email the sellers way if you have a question. A good ebay seller will be checking his\her email often up until the close of the auction.

about 3 weeks after the amd64 3200+'s came out i found a guy selling 3 of them, NIB on there for 150.00 each. i thought the deal was too good to be true, since at hte time standard 3200's where going for 200.00. 64 3200's where going for something like 400.00. anyways, i got one and it worked perfectly. was quite the amazing deal, never found a better deal yet. as for the buying stuff, do your homework on the item before hand. ive seen so many things that looked like the actual item i wanted, but it was the low end model of the item, they just had it listed as the high end model. check feed back for any decent sized purchase if they dont have a picture, ask for one. more often then not they will get you a picture. if your looking at cars, make sure you know the ins and the outs of that car. ive looked at alot of cars on there lately, and quite afew of them are listed as a high end package but are really the lowest of the low's. oh ya, if you have any questions about something, ask them. its the best thing you can do. |
