DH Member in need....

A new user who is a very close friend of mine, Garmbalm, some of you know him some of you don't he plays on the UT2k4 Server frequently, his daughter just went into the emergency room with Appendicitis, she's 4 and her name is Emma. If you guys could keep Garmbalm and Emma in your prayers I know he'd appreciate it. He has some problems getting used to the forum aspect of talking with people but you'll probably see him around lurking and joining in when he can. Anyways keep them in your prayers and lets get Emma a speedy recovery!

Appendics.... i'm not completely sure, but i beleive that it isn't a nessary organ (doctors are still unaware of it's need)

as long as it hasn't burst, all should go well....

Apparently haveing the appendics removed is a rather common thing, some have problems reguardless of what age....

Hope she does very well...

To my knowledge, your appendix is actually not needed, unless you are a vegetarian, or eat a lot of vegetables. According to the evolution theory, we evolved from animals, which ate a lot of plants, shrubs, bark, what have you. The appendix in their bodies released a hormone or enezyme or something of that sort which causes a balancing of chemicals to occur. Studies, sry no link, have shown the people that eat mainly plants, like salads and stuff, are beginning to release that hormone/enzyeme thing. Mine has burst, and im doin just fine, i know of many others like me to.

So, all should go well!!

don't get me wrong, nobody wants to have a reason to go to the hosbital...

but i think it's nice to be there when your in any kind of health related condition that needs attention, i usually stop worring about everything as soon as i step into a hosbital.... chances of serviving are increase ten fold ( IMO )

Thanks for the thread Poopy, and thank you guys for your concern. Emma (2 years old) is out of sergery and doing fine. Her appendics burst but they think they got the infection out. I hope so

. I truly appreciate the prayers.

appendices are there from previous times i think… used to digest grass i think… its not a needed organ really

I kept mine for quite a while, but some years ago, I completed the set.

After a strangulated hernia on either side (not at the same time) - one done with clips, the other with stitches, the appendix was several years later.

Stiches (not many and widely spaced) plus a covering film - it left a scar so barely visible, that I assumed they were testing something that would be used for visible areas later.

Burst, that's nasty, mine was close to it.

It is a leftover from herbivores, but serves no useful purpose even if you ARE vegetarian, and no special precations are needed for doing without it (unlike the spleen, which a friend of mine lost).

Thanks again for the support. She was up and walking a little today. The doctors took her off the morphine and gave some other pain med (non narcodic) so she is more lucid. They wont let her eat yet but hopefully tomorrow.

I will try to remind her not to eat too much bark or grass. She will miss it from her diet, they were her favorite!

Unfortunately things are not going along very well for Emma, she still has an infection and a large fluid filled area of her abdomen with a high fever and pain. She has been readmitted to the hospital and is on a course of Antibiotics, the doctors are trying to take care of the fluid and inflammation without surgery but they may have to open her back up again if thingsa do not improve. Keep your thoughts on Emma and her family as you give thanks for your health and welfare say a prayer for the Garman family as well, they're in the hospital until this turns around.
