What to do about my ISP...

Over the last year and a half, I have had Adelphia High Speed Internet. The name is a total lie... High Speed Give me a BREAK! When they say High Speed you first have to understand to them High Speed means you will get at most 2/3 of what they tell you, and if you are lucky get 1/3 to 1/2. They say 3 down 256 up. Total CRAP. Over the past share of months, the people who talk to me on a day to day basis (cept for lately) know my troubles. Drake can speak personally of the CRAP service/support Adelphia provides. Tonight I sat on tech support for over an hour. For what? to waste 1 hour of my time to talk to ignorant stupid people. First off, I say "I am having troubles keeping good strong connections while streaming. It seems there is packet LOSS. So i removed my router, and went with a direct connect." Blah blah blah blah blah - Tech Support
Me again "I know it is not my side, as I get my normal speed of 1200 kb. Him ' You should get higher speed then that. Please remove your router"

I stated above I removed my router already and the problem persisted..... 1 hour later

Viola

Tech Support Joe M.

-- It seems your cable modem has packet loss, I will escalate this problem in the escalation department.

Do you have any more questions?
and before I could ask who i need to talk to to talk to upper managment, he closed it. So i bitched in the feedback box given after.

It has been like this with every trouble I have had... Including the modem the issued me was not compatible with their network...

They are the only provider i have for Decent speed internet (no dsl or cable providers) Only other choice is Satellite, but that is too pricey.

What do i do... please help lol... suggestions anything, A way to milk the problems i have encountered etc...etc...

This may be a bit of a rant, but it is the truth and Id like it to be known about this company.

Damn that sucks. Sounds like my last ISP, SureWest, a DSL provider. The line got real bad, to less than half of 1Mbps and 12kbps upload (lol). So they came and installed an ActionTek modem, which they said has burstable upload speed so we may have some problems. Well that was true more or less, and I couldn't even play an online game right without the ping going through the roof every 2 mins for 10-15 second intervals. Anyway, we switched to an ISP called Comcast, it's a cable ISP. So much better too, and no problems at all

I know that Adelphia operates in the LA area, but but maybe they do it to other areas as well.

sounds like what i'm recently having now.. packetloss and sever speed degradation.... pings going nutz while gaming..... Downloads that should be 15x the speed i'm actually getting, uploads that same way...

Although MY ISP is a little better in the fact that they are constantly willing to help.. (aside from a few bad people they send out)

currently, these guys have gone the full 5 miles.... from completely REPLACEING every single cable in the house and outside the house to the main box on the powerpoles...... to replacing the model....

and now, i've got a time set for friday, a full Computer technisian is being out his own PC and running a long and thorough test directly from my place..... Looks like i might try some gaming with him....

i do about 3mbps out here on comcast. so far i love there service, had it for almost 3 years now. only times ive had problems are when either an actual cable is down some place, or a widespread outage. only happend about 5 times over 3 years, not bad if i say so.

i am thinking of switching my current DSL to comcast cable internet.

my current speeds with Earthlink is ~700kb dn/ ~130kb up. it was advertised 1.5 mb dn/ 128kb up and i pay $50 per mnth.

do u guys think i should make the switch? plus my mom was thinking of getting a connection to her pc if i switched and said she would split the bill half/half...
