Hellooo everyone, what a week i had...
First of all on thursday my 94 Toyota Pickup truck (automatic 4x4 V6 3.0L, w' only 93,000+ miles) began to act strangly (losing power, alot of white smoke out the exhaust, engine almost stalling, cabin shaking badly). Barely! made it to school that morning thinking i should just go home cause i dont think this is gonna start again after school. And sure enough - after school - tried to start it - Nott'in!. The engine was trying to crank-over but then would either stall out and die or turn over but not be at full power...engine sounded again like it was about to stall and DIE... ...SOOO i wait their for over 3 hours after sorting out insurence issues and calling family to pick up my brother at school, etc...Finally the towtruck comes, loads it up and takes me to a local Automall which have garages. We leave it there overnight, the people their said "OH sure, shouldn't be anything serious, you should have it back tomorrow around 5:00pm". So with high hopes i go to school tomorrow, after school im all happy that its the weekend and my truck is gonna be fixed but i turn on my phone and i Have 1 Voicemail message - listen to it...and it says "....your truck needs a new engine..." ...yea so APPARENTLY cylinder #6 has either a cracked piston or gaskethead. It will take ALOT of money for them to just tear apart the engine block and look for the problem more indepth, it will also take ALOT of money for them to put in a new piston/gasket/watever else is wrong - but doing this isnt wise because when the piston cracked, the arm made it bend at a angle and screwed up the actual cylinder and was letting in coolent into cylinder 6 not allowing the engine to start... The mechanics at the Roseville Automall Toyota Dealship said doing the bare min to fix it isn't good because it will happen again, basicly a whole new engine block was needed...SO after being pissed - and monday coming a car was needed. So we went and bought a brand new 2005 Honda Civic DX - Red - manual - 1.7L 115HP/110ft-lbs-torque 16-val SOHC 4 cyl engine. It isn't half bad, good price at around $13,000 - nice looking overall - RELIABLE! Now we got to try and fix the bare-min for my truck just so it runs, sell it , and let someone else handle the problem like i did!! (never buy used, if you do - check it out like a MUTHA!). Or if we're not gonna fix it then we're gonna try to sell it as is for god knows how much.Anyone know how much a '94 Toyota Pickup truck 4x4 V6 3.0L brand new tires (only few months old), brand new brakes(again only a few months old), everything else all around good to excellent condition......? Anyone want it?

erm.... new engine?
first off... white smoke.... if your seeing white smoke that a sign the your burning normal fuel with water... aka, creating steam. (you should have put your hand a little over the exhaust to see if your hand got wet quickly)... Second, in the case of steam, either head gaskets have gone, timing has gone. Another thing could be is a valve or few of them have either stuck... The rods that push them have broke..... or a few other things.. but i highly doubt this enless you could clearly hear some serious smashing of metal against metal (in the last case, highly unlikingly that you would have made it very fair) in any case aside from the last, the chances of you needing a new engine is pretty well NILL... Fixing the timing is easy, i've seen engines run quite awhile on a with bad timing and with water going in with the gas.... Not hard to fix... shouldn't take them long... it doesn't take long to pull a head off and change it... you shouldn't worry about paying to much at all there enless they screw you over (and considering that they said get a new engine.. erm... you might not be taking it to a reliable place)

Judas....
yeah uhh it dosn't have anything to do with the timining at all... just that cylindar 6/piston and arm is screwed... so...if i get a new piston or headgasket or watever...ok it runs..but what about the whole blocK?........that damaged engine is gonna screw over the newly installed parts overtime..and gain the same problem will happen.

erm, if cylinder 6 was screwed i highly doubt it would have any or enough power to do anything as it would end up messing up the piston and if the arm is messed.. you'd have such a massive mess that the engine would definitely not run at all... it would be just a messy extremely loud mashing mess of metal....
You'd also be able to see some pretty good physical damage to the outside of the egine with dints and and stuff.... you would not have been able to drive it all all... i would have to say they are lieing from the information that you gave me... like i mentioned... timing is one characteristic of white smoke.... and rough running

...what about coolent entering cyl 6....its cause it can't combust it...so it wont fully turn over...

so now it won't start at all? but turns over.. just doesn't fire?
if you give it a fair bit of gas... it should turn over (as long as it's not fuel injected) and it'll fire.. although i wouldn't really recommend it ![]() If the head gaskets are screwed... wouldn't be serprised if you had coolent going into majority of the cylinders...

the engine sounds at first to start for about a second but then either dosn't star t at all or starts but is on the verge of dieing
i tried adding gas, dosn't work. yeah, i dunno what we're gonna do with it. How much do you think i could get for it in its current condition knowing that i could have sold it for about $6,500 tops if it was working and if i sold it myself...trade in was around $5,000+

...well if you can find someone that knows a great deal about engines in general, that you can trust... perhaps a friend... cousine.... that can take a good look at it... and give you a little more info.... because everything i've gathered from you have said.. .shouldn't be to hard or to costly to fix at all..
and if you figured you could get 6500 for it if it were working.... i figure a good 5500 or 5000 at least... And looking at the year and other information you have posted.... it is a fuel injected system.. so it wouldn't let you start it anyways.. (the computer and sensors would prevent it from running long at all) And engine for that thing would be rather cheap... i assume the body is in excellent shape though....

yeah, we are going to take it to a friends garage - they are practically family, we've know them and their familys for years. We're gonna see what they say and how much their estimates are.
yea its fuel injection... ...the body is in good to excellent shape, there is no dents or anything although there is a scratch on the right door that isn't eye catching at all, and apart from that there is mild paint chip around the top of the sides of the long bed because it originally had a camper shell on it that scratched off some paint. We are going to sell with the shell and clothed/padded truck bed, which should add to the selling price of the truck.
