well i just returned my copy of RE:Apocalypse and found out the same thing happend with this new copy too.

further research into the matter showed that i wasnt the only one experianceing this problem. apparently theres some new form of security on these things thats supposed to make it alot more difficult to rip em... and not all dvd-roms are likeing this new security. when you try to play the movie it just locks up and nothing happens, talk about great security measures.... i was trying to play it with PowerDVD 4.0, and thought what the hell? lets try 6.0.
6.0 works just fine with this stuff, only problem is its a 30day trial and they want 39.99 for the damn thing. i got 4.0 free (came with my dvd-rom) and i think im gonna have to go and pick up a free copy of 6.0 now

security devices can all be emulated once you get the disc to rip to your HD, and after that it should play in any player.

I know Daemon tools emulates laserlock, securom, and a few others.....I'm sure there are DVD emulators around too

1st this should be in the appropriate forum & 2nd this & little black book do have sonys new protection. it played on both of my decks & both of my comps. you are right about needing newer software. wich i find ridiculous. for the $$ reason you stated.
backing it up is a bitch. not that i think it is worth it.

i just put this here since i mentioned i was haveing problems with it a few pages back, figured id just put a follow up to it here too. anyways i now have a *ahem* legal copy of powerdvd 6.0, just scanned my system for any un-wanted add on's and im all clean. all my problems should be solved as far as video's go now.
