I would see it again some things concerning Captain/Admiral Pike and a few other things that differ from the original series as I am sure Stu noted as well but enjoyed it overall.

My dad is sworn on startrek and watched the orginal star trek series viciously when it first aired and everytime he got a chance through the thousands of reruns.....

He had no problems when the portraying of admiral (captain) pike.. as pike was the first captain of the enterprise 1701... and was saposedly short lived which actually followed through on the movie quite well. However the star trek series first presents pike was basically a vegitable... but the movie doesn't break any series based with the realms of various small changes made to the timeline.

It is, and will always be, a generally All round FUN to watch movie with some interesting humor that rolls right in with the orginal series. My dad was thoroughly impressed with the way the characters played off the orginal series own humor and character class.

Re: Randomness Resurected

ok, so this windows install is by far being the most difficult one i've EVER had done!

this is a Dell Latitude D620 laptop that i'm working with.

basically, i install windows XP without any problems. i install drivers, no problem. as soon as i put in my login info for my router, a wep page opens up automatically of a porn site and then it starts to install "anti-virus" software (a program called "CoreGuard Antivirus) of its own shortly thereafter closing the window down.

i've done several things here already to install windows.

i've done a quick install (no low-level format) boot to windows (Dell's disk of winXP sp3), install drivers, and bam! the above description.

i've done a low level format boot to windows, install drivers, and i get the above description.

i've done a low level format and completely formatted the 100MB partition that comes along with the machine and still, i get the same issue.

i've even used my bootleg (yes, i'm saying it that word) copy of winXP sp2 for testing purposes of this issue. i did the same low level format and everything again, and still once i get the drivers installed and get connected online, the same BS pops up with that SAME pornographic web page and then a few momments later i get that "Anti-Virus" software thing to start auto-installing itself.

idk guys. i'm at my wits end here on this.

linky here on this page. it'll help keep all ideas on the same page...

Pike didn't first appear in "The Menagerie" he actually appeared in the never aired pilot "The Cage". That is where Pike lost command of the Enterprise.

Like I said I really enjoyed it and wasn't picky about details like that and suggest any old trekkie fans approach it the same way

Anyway off to help my parents move today ... not looking forward to it lol

yeah i know... those PIIIs you've got are in that old server motherboard right...?

i had a 700MHz Celeron (OCed to 788MHz) in before i upgraded with this PIII CPU... even at stock speed (650Mhz) the PIII does a hell of lot better than that 700MHz Celeron did, even if it was OCed... now, the PIII CPU is at 866MHz and doing great, stable and fast...

i guess that extra 128KB of L2 cache do really make a difference...

aaaaaahh... fixing old stuff never gets old... LOL

running seagate seatools on this Dell laptop. SeaGate DiskWizard seems to be what runs the format.

CDs, hate to break this to you man... but i don't think that this is HDD related... i know you know this, but a HDD format usually wipes the FAT tables of the files... so there is basiclally no way something would survive on that HDD and reappear itself intacked after a reinstall of XP...

then, i'll take it to work and install windows there. different router, different security, so that would rule that out.
