that's kinda exactly what my village is like, the river is so far below most of the houses that the level would have to rise by 7/800% before our house was ever in danger.
ironically, after days and days of torrential rain, the day all hell breaks loose with roads and trainlines shut all over the place, the weather here is nice and dry

i spent the entire weekend pretty much gaming it up on my 360. although, i should have been a little bit more proactive and ran a cat5e cable all the way around the walls for me to get back on XBL. oh, and the game i was playing was Too Human, a game i had sealed for over a year

On thursday this week i'm faced with doing a presentation on a topic of my choice, needless to say i've gone with parkour but more specifically a group not too far from here that have some very interesting aspects about them.

However there's a girl in our media group that's decided to do her presentation on smoking, Now she's a non smoker and there's actually a fair few smokers in my group, myself included. Don't get me wrong i know the risks, as does everyone else that's made this choice so we're dreading 5 minutes of having the risks shoved up our noses. She's a mate of my mates so after the lesson we asked her what she'd be including in her presentation.

She basically said "I'm gonna tell you the risks and why it's a bad thing to do", We get the risks shoved under our noses every day, we're well aware of it but we made the choice don't harass us

Now i've actually got my reasons for being a smoker; I use it as a more civilised outlet during infuriating or stressful situations, I've got a very short temper and i'm always afraid confrontations will turn violent, So taking 5 minutes to get some air and allow the situation to cool just seems perfectly logical to me.

But then again, free country. We can always switch off for 5 minutes. Lol

Edit - and just before anyone says it, i have actually been looking at some of the nicotine replacement therapy, Maybe my brain's deciding it's time to let go of this habit eventually.

just had to collect my kid from school (its only 10am here)

they've shut the whole school and sent every child home for the whole day.
not because of the flooding, or the traffic chaos etc
no, some mischievous kids set some tissue on fire in the boys toilet.

goddamn, if that was all it took to get out of school for a day when i was young I'd have been setting fires left and right...

@ mousey its not that smokers lives are cut short, its more like if we both live to be very old , when we die you would suffer a lot more than me, muhahahahaha

so, thats it. ive finally decided to upgrade my system. im going to wait for the black friday/xmas/new years sales and see how they look before i buy any parts.

im looking at a 955be, 2x2 gskill 1600, ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO, and an xfx 4870. looks like i can pick up win 7 home premium upgrade pretty cheap too.

now i just need to wait for things to go on sale.

How long have you been working on the vette now anyway just out of curiosity? Was it a total rebuild project?

Has anyone looked at the E-Cig? I think they're a really good idea, Because it's water vapour and not smoke it can actually be "Smoked" or "Vaped" anywhere. Bars, Clubs, Restraunts, Buses, Taxis, even planes. Legally

after the piss poor performance of NFS:S, seeing the terrible performance im going to get with dragon age, and a few other games.... i realized how out of date my system really is.

as for the vette, i couldnt afford a full rebuild, so ive just been working on the major things that i could afford. ive been working on it for about 5 years now. id say ive got about 8-10k invested in it at this point. ive got some things to do to it this winter, but no more major overhauls and no major expenses.

You basically login everyday to earn points, and they're implementing different things into the "Dailies" section like music and games, Simply give your answer or play the game or w/e and you earn some more points. Then you can invite people to join and you earn points through that.

If you invite 20 people you become what's known as a Z-Lister and you earn double points on everything, priority shopping so you've got a lot better chance of getting whatever it is you want from the store before it sells out.

It's not exactly fun but it's a damned good thing to do when you're bored and it's a test of your marketing skills if you can get invites going
