Re: Randomness Resurected
As today is one of those days you wanted to end early due to various reasons as it not going well at work...
And i thought i were having a bad day untill what comes next. So working outside as a window cleaner (and not getting much kindness from the round as in a cup of tea) me and my mate who i work with went down to the local cafe for a quick drink and bite to eat..After pulling up spotted a car who had a huge Yellow Packet on the windscreen of the car (Parking Ticket fine) Where we normally park is a controlled zone of 9.30 to 4.30 pm of a 1 hour free parking (if there is space) and at first i thought this guy had broken down as he had the Hazard Lights Flashing..And were unfortunate to get the tickit for being longer than an hour.. Untill i realised where he where actually parked. Untill a few moments later seeing a guy coming out of a florist with a bunch of flowers.. Headed straight towards the car with the ticket.. This is what made my day today... A) This guy had possibly bought the flowers to make up to his partner for forgetting V-day Yesterday.. B) And he got the Parking ticket for parking on a White Zig-Zag at a pedestrian crossing (In the UK) is a no parking or loading Zone... C) He were only 15ft away from a 1 Hour parking zone (and at the time had loads of space) that would not of cost him a X amount of cash toward being Too Lazy to walk a few feet extra.. Probably cost him an extra £60 perhaps. This has made my day better. |

I hate it when some silly little mistake bites back disproportionately hard. Glad you had a nice day, though :P

Re: Randomness Resurected
Talk about not judging the book by it's cover! Still, is that fan just standing on the graphics card?

Re: Randomness Resurected
You could glue it to the card without damaging it.
My main worry was ventilation for the first card - presumably that fan is there to help the chipset to deal with the ridiculous case temps.

Re: Randomness Resurected
Yeah, I've just noticed, no exhaust fans.
I'd like to see a video of it in action. Those cases were popular here because of their low price (case+PSU for 25€, anyone?) and are so ridiculously light that it probably rattles audibly when the fans kick into full speed (the piece of crap which originally enclosed my old Athlon64 did that when the small stock CPU fan hit it's peak 6000rpm). Also, it would probably melt and/or catch fire about 60s in a game.Actually, if it weren't for the "there I fixed it" chipset fan, I'd think that it was just built for taking pictures, it's so ridiculous, but that and the holes in the floor make me think someone actually used it that way. It should be a crime to do that to an i7 CPU and a pair of (at the time) top of the line GPUs.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's X58,, but what do you reckon the cards are?

Re: Randomness Resurected
The upper one has the "ATI Radeon" logo, so I'm guessing 4000 series (5000 and newer have all been labeled AMD Radeon if I'm correct) and with the lower one being so much longer than the top one, my thoughts are one ordinary 4870 and one 4870 X2 in three GPU Crossfire (quick search for ASUS Radeon 4870 X2 revealed this card, looks about right to me).

Re: Randomness Resurected
Ah.
I was thinking dual 4870X2, but the top card didn't look complex enough. I guess maybe a 4870 could keep itself cool enough in that space. As in <110 degrees celcius. Underclocked and undervolted. :P

Re: Randomness Resurected
why does everything have to revolve around money in this world.
And why am I paying so much more than the kiwi students. My freaking (no FWZ I'm afraid) bill came in for this years fees. I don't want to go into details, but I pay roughly 4.5 times what kiwi students pay, and their bill is ~6 grand a year. I got made redundant at my job, or more accurate, the shop got removed. They had space at the airport, and apparently they didn't make enough money, so the airport kicked them out. Now I'm out looking for a new job, which will have to coincide with my studies... no easy feat. It's not exactly like shooting fish in a barrel. Now, don't get me started on the bureaucracy of everything. Extending my visa.. what a nightmare. I have to pay my fees and get proof that I will have enough money to get through the year, before they will give me a new visa. The university demands I pay ALL of my fees before the year starts otherwise I will not be enrolled. This means I have to cough up 28 grand and proof I got access to an additional 10k (in my name), just like that. Then there is the dutch goverment and their organizations that can't get it through their thick skulls that NEW Zealand is not Zealand in the Netherlands and that I don't live at home whilst studying (flying backwards and forwards is not really feasible is it?!). They want proof of me being enrolled every 3 months, proof of this, a paper of that, a signature there and go on and go forth. It's like they lose the papers every so often and the whole shebang starts again. sometimes, FML just doesn't cut it.

Re: Randomness Resurected
Just been reading one of my Fathers letters from the current Government a few moments ago....
Due to some new pension regulation changes due to him turning 80 later this year he has a increase of a whopping 25 pence.. Whoopy doo... Not bad going as it probably cost the authorities more than 25P to print of 3X (Including a Breakdown & ink etc) A4 peices of paper + Envelope and postage to let him know he will be 25P better off. Surely it would be cheaper to add the increase automaticaly that would not be noticed.. |

Re: Randomness Resurected
![]() (sorry for the badly timed sarcasm, couldn't resist )Anyway, that's how things go when your abroad. As for keeping a job and studying, I don't have much experience, but I have to say it sounds more than hard. Then the governments wonder how come fewer people go to college and university.... I hope everything get's solved in the end

Re: Randomness Resurected
Say NO to ACTA - e-petitions
If it passes 100k signatures, it gets discussed in UK parliament. If nothing else, we then at least get to see who's willing to bring an intelligent viewpoint to the table, and who's got corporate cash in their back pocket.

Not known to everyone here at HH,This is why am posting this here in R&R.
I'm a big fan of the Old time comedians just for the plain Gags that works. BBC News - Comic Frank Carson dies aged 85 RIP Frank Carson. And his best known Catch Phrase was "it's a Cracker" ironically i were tucking in to a few Jacob's Crackers at the time i seen this news.. Last edited by MIG-31; Feb 22, 2012 at 09:39 PM. |
