Exactly where does he say his work is paying for it? Maybe he has rich parents. Most people have parents that are computer illiterate, and can be talked into anything if you use words they don't understand.

my parents won't spend a dime on a computer part unless they know what it is/does. you're lucky to have such generous parents.

Back in the day I had to load 3 square acres worth of rocks into a flatbed truck...when I was 14...to even get a Pure 3d voodoo1 accelerator. In four feet of snow too!

Actually, my dad broke my computer in the first place so he agreed to pay for it. But now I'm wondering if I should let it go and just buy a nice brand new laptop!

Yeah, I thought about a desktop and even getting the Koolance water-cooled case but then I thought how cool it would be if I had a laptop which I could take with me to school and pretty much anywhere I go. I'm still not fully decided. Also, my dad told me that he could just give me the down payment for a car and that's another thing that I really want.
