I ordered a LiteOn 52x24x52x CD-RW

, Chieftec Aluminum server case, & a MS IntelliMouse Optical mouse.

What ya guys think?

I love liteon drives as well, ive had a 48x drive for a while now and it performs exceptionally. let us know how it goes and your opinions on your new hardware

I like better IntelliMouse Explorer (I have 2.0A, but there is 3.0 also), but this is OK too.

I had Liteon 12X drive - so loooong ago....

Yeah, I already have a LiteOn 32x12x40x CD-RW, and I love it. That's why I went for the 52x24x52x one by LiteOn, only 80$ too! The case & mouse my friend has, so I they are both great, only difference is his case isn't aluminum. Mmmmmmmmmmm, aluminum.

Nope, Ratpadz are still made. Check out HardOCP for details. I use an Everglide personally, but only because I got it for free.

Hmm...might want to consider switching to the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. More expensive, but WAAAAY better tracking than the Optical.

Example, I bought a Microsoft Optical Intellimouse...used it for a while, then when I played ghost recon and couldn't get more than 5 px accurate...decided to return it, spend 10 bucks more, and get my intellimouse explorer. Best optical mouse out there.

You'll definitely be happier with gameplaying and mouse-sensitivity intensive work...

Chroming the aluminum would defeat the reason for having an aluminum case... Coating the aluminum in chrome would reduce the effectiveness of the aluminum to remove heat from the system. Polishing the aluminum would offer a better solution and would give you similar results.

Just an idea.

I tried Everglide, and while I think they're good and all I just like the shape of the Ratpad better. The long, gentle arc at the bottom just FITS! But it could be just a personal preference since I started with Ratpadz. The Giganta Everglide's surface had the same smooth feeling action as the Ratpad, it just didn't feel quite right on my wrist. The big advantage I see to Everglide is price too, since you can almost always find a Giganta on their site for $5-6us if'n you're not so picky about color/design. (They run a lot of specials.)

But I think it's worth the $15-20us for a real Ratpad if you can find one, it's the last pad you'll buy for that system.

I've wondered about that, thanks! I'll be trying the 3.0 next time I pick up a new mouse. (I should be picking one up soon anyways, Blue's had hers for almost 2 years now. The textured surface on the buttons has worn smooth as glass.
