GTA: Vice City for PC

I have recently been informed that Rockstar Games will not be releasing a PC version of its new game GTA: Vice City. This made me and a lot of other people very angry because we were expecting this game and now they don't want to release it. Please sign this petition so that we can all convince them to release it after all. Your help is very much appreciated.

1. Online petitions rarely ever do any good.

2. I liked GTA3 far better on the PS2 than I did on the PC.

3. If a PC version of Vice City were to be made, it would be like a 4 CD game (just an estimate), and lots of people don't like having to deal with that.

4. Considering how well the PS2 version of GTA3 did compared to the PC version, and also considering how unhappy many people were with the "crappy port" of the PC version when it was released, I completely understand why Rockstar decided against another PC port.

Vice City is HIGHLY optimized to run on PS2 hardware. To make a halfway decent PC port would require a great deal of work.. and considering GTA3 PC didn't exactly sell out across the nation, I don't see them putting in the effort to port Vice City to the PC.

they are coping out, granted GTa3 on the PC wasnt well coded but it ran well if you had the hardware.

GTA vice city runs well on the PS2 yes, ive got it, but remember its only running at 640x480, and to do a PC port requires alot more work, so to me its a cop out. The power of a mid range gaming PC compared to a PS2 is just not even comparible. seems to me like they dont have the team of coders they need to do this. in other words, lame. they have alot more headroom on a PC format to get the game running well on most rigs at a reasonable resolution of 1024x768.

as for a 4cd game, they should be able to get it to 3cds with modern compression, hardly an issue considering alot of PC games like mafia are 3cd, or even more in cases, (even a 3cd installer and have a disc of Mp3s to play the game with). its not a cost issue, considering a blank disc is under 10pence for a company to produce.

obviously not a very talented company, and certainly they seem to be admitting this fact, and as you say its obviously not cost effective if its not projected to be selling enough to reimburse their costs.

well, Rockstar can kiss the income from me goodbye....i'm returning the original GTA3 and Vice city PS2 ver. on monday (as we can in my country acording to the law), i will not support rockstar again, EVER

Sorry guys, but it's time to buy a real gaming machine if you want to play the best games.

I know it's got to suck that Rockstar won't support PCs anymore but try to understand them. The PC gaming market is pitiful. They're having a huge success w/ GTA's on PS2 and they'd most likely spend time innovating than doing a half-assed port that won't sell much anyway... God knows you'd do the same. The big players develop for consoles generally. (Exception, id Software and Blizzard? Carmack rules

I will continue to buy Rockstar games as long as they're as high quality as GTA3 and Vice City. I say... do not port the game and put more time into your next big title!

Like Microsoft wants to have Quake 4 (once it comes out) only on X-Box. Also, what about StarCraft: Ghost which is console-only game?

Emulators are usually bad coded and require a lot of processor power (even a good coded Sega 32X emulator like Gens needs at least a 1Ghz, and originally it run at around 23Mhz + some sound and graphic processors).
