Re: post your ride

I was half tempted to run outside and take a pic of my plum-colored '93 Ford Taurus ... but figured that since I'm still trying to make a good first impression, that's probably not the best way to gain people's respect. :P

Pretty much exactly like this:

The sun has begun to strip the paint off at the rear of the top. It's not too bad, just looks awkward. The suspension/struts is pretty bad ATM as well; I can feel EVERY bump, but other than that the car does what I need it to.

using a 3 step wax process will remove any paint that is "clinging on" but already stripped off and then protect whatever paint is left on the car. I need to do this 3 step wax process to my car too for preventative paint stripping measures.

the fact that your suspension is essentially gone gives you reason to get your car lowered . it'll probably be like an extra $100 more (overall) over OEM replacement strut/spring replacement and it'll negate the fact that your car's paint is stripping

Well, the paint-stripping wouldn't be an issue if the previous owner didn't poorly apply paint to the car. I remember waxing the roof not too long ago and it still happened. Plus California weather doesn't help either.

Once I actually have a real income I will look into repairing the suspension as well. Thanks for the tip.

Re: post your ride

Lovingly restored and awaiting a new home, I am leaving the UK so it was sold recently. It looks good and runs well, but it is an MG, etc. LOL
I have more fun with the Morris Minor.
I had two Lupo's, one blew up before I even had it three days, the mechanic that tried to sell it to me was nearly sacked by the dealership. I got the little red wonder instead and it has a 1.4 and a new transfer case so even if the body is rubbish it is fun to drive.
When I went to the Germany I drove a little Mercedes for a bit, loved it, but very docile and even though it was fast, I couldnt really feel the road, etc. what do you want for C class eh?
The Citreon Berlingo was necessary until I got my hardware off my leg and off the crutches, it awaits sale now. I am letting it go for 3000 pounds because it is a stick.
funny though, didnt really drive it, Betka usually did. will be sad to see her go too, but I put her on a plane last week for Brataslava.
All things must come to an end.
I am listening to Jet right now and thinking about my last days here.
Looking forward to San Francisco.

2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i

I got a new rear-view mirror with a digital compass built in and auto-dim..
I just installed 4 new door speakers yesterday- Polk DB series 6.5", they
sound sweet.

I'll probably get a cat back stainless exhaust and some 17" alloys eventually,
the car happened to come with regular 16" steel rims. Also down the line a
(very) small subwoofer and amp(s) for all door speakers and sub and maybe
a new head unit. Right now the Polks are just running off the factory head
unit but they sound a million times better than the factory speakers.

Youtoob vid of the exhaust I am looking at-

Re: post your ride

The New Mini's look great (Excluding the Clubman) and they are great handling cars.. For myself they feel like a BMW without the Badge..

I have tried the cooper and the cooper S.. I seriously think the Cooper S has a little too much BHP for a small(ish) fwd car.

Re: post your ride

is that the estate version with the extra door?
My Lupo was a sort homage to the real Morris product because even
thought it is crude in comparison to even the BMW version of the Cooper
design, it was just scary enough to make it interesting.
I imagine that car is very refined and well mannered and quick, perfect spins around the fen roads, etc.
But how is it on long drives?

california weather has harsh all over. idk where in cali you live, but my part of cali is probably one of the worst to live in, in terms of car appeal.

dude, with the speakers, try and get an amp for them ASAP. even if it's a dinky little 200w 4 channel amp. reason being is that a head unit alone (regardless of brand) does not provide enough power to your speakers and will be a likely cause to premature speaker death (aka: crackling, distortion, etc.)

It's a really gorgeous car mate, I love the curves and styling. We don't get car's like that over here. Well apart from Jeff's Morris Minor, tho they're pretty rare round these parts now.

It's not a clubman Jeff, just the standard hatch. It's great for motorway drives, very smooth and quiet for a small car.

That is what appealed to me too. very docile, regardless of what those Top Gear chaps say, I think they draw a smile or two when people drive them or see them.

I love that Stingray, too. Those curves put so many of today's "ironed-flat" designs to shame!

And Craig, you don't need to be a real man to pull off that Mini... that's only required for the convertible version

Any way, here's a blurry shot of mine... not really anything special I'm afraid:

Re: post your ride

I bought my car from a Port in my city. That was February 2008. I traded in the previous model for this one which I got 1500 for. This one was 8100. So far I have the mags my dad gave me from his 2005 Commodore custom rear lights and recently my sister Anita donated her head unit subwoofer and amp from her Holden Cruze which she just sold for a brand new Holden Barina.
For my birthday this year in a couple months my parents are going to give me 1000 to install a 3" exhaust which will please me very much cause I don't like driving it and hardly being able to hear it reach 3000RPM in first gear to second.
It is actually the car I was envious of all of my frinds parent's back in '97 which is the production year of this vehicle. And currently it is the fastest car in our lot. it outputs 147KW of rear wheel speed which is close to my dad's old VN SS Group A 307 Holden Engine which put out 160KW. ALthough it is no where near my sister Eva's and her Hubbies brand new SS Commodore VE model which is a 270KW 6.0 Litre beauty.
