Vin Diesel is Hitman

Vin Diesel will star as Agent 47 in 20th Century Fox's upcoming adaptation of Hitman, the best-selling video game franchise from Eidos and developer IO Interactive.

Diesel also will serve as executive producer. Charles Gordon and Adrian Askarieh are producing through their respective companies, Daybreak Productions and Prime Universe Productions. Daniel Alter will co-produce.

The game's story centers on an international assassin known as Agent 47 who works for a mysterious organization dubbed the Agency. The first three games in the franchise have sold more than 10 million units. Eidos plans to release another sequel, "Hitman: Blood Money," this fall.

"'Hitman' is a project that by the virtue of its DNA can and will reach far beyond its already substantial core audience," Askarieh said. "The canvas on which this adventure takes place is something that movie audiences have embraced for the last 40 years. We obviously are delighted to have Vin Diesel on board, too -- he and Agent 47 are a match made in heaven."

Edit: Of course, I say that with the complete assumption that it'll suck.

I think Jason Statham who acted in The Transporter and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels would be better than Vin Diesel. Diesel can't act to save his bloody life

Wow.. I was thinking the exact same thing. Jason would be (by far) MUCH MUCH (much) more fitting for the role. Vin is like this walking "if it moves, bash it" kind of tank, not an undercover spy..

From what I can remember, While Statham was great in Lock Stock, The Transporter however was another story. Apart from being as wooden as Diesel, the pretend US accent made me feel embarrased for being English.

If they made Agent 47 a non speaking role in the movie, I reckon both actors could pull it off but really they should have thought about getting someone with a bit more acting clout and then shaved his head.

Great observation and I agree totally. Vin Diesel is too musclebound for the hitman anyway, what a dumb casting. Obviously not using Diesels name to get people in to see it then

Yeah, Willis maybe could have pulled it off. I agree though that Statham was better in Lock, Stock, but if they allow him to keep the english accent, I think he'll be great for it

Vin Diesel has that deep voice like 47, but dunno, he doesn't really look like him... In any case, as long as it's a Hitman movie

I think Clooney would be better for the role of Fisher. He would need to bulk up a bit though
