Thumbs Up! Weird perk from being a mod here?

So I was all happy that I got a pink keyboard, mouse, & speaker set-up on sale for $19us the other night...'til I got an e-mail explaining there was a problem with my billing address and they've put my order on "hold" 'til "we can clear up the error".

Well, the problem isn't un-familar to me. If I put "ST" instead of "Street" for my address some CC software doesn't get it. So it is me own fault for not entering the correct info, but it still annoys me at times that they don't check such a simple thing. As a general rule I just blow-off the retailer and go to someone who actually has a human being check their problem orders, but the whole "pink" think is teaching me humility in some strange new ways and it ain't like something I can find easily any where else...so I wrote them a nice letter explaining the problem and giving them the corrected information yesterday.

And hadn't heard from them and my order was still on "hold" this morning. Normally no biggy, but me daughter's birthday is the 17th and I'm paying about as much in shipping to get it here quick as I am for the items themselves..so I sort of thought they'd get the clue I was in a hurry. But me calmer head has been prevailing over me shout & stomp side lately, (thanks to everyone who points out to me when I go a bit over the top, I'm not always the sanest. ), so I wrote them another nice letter explaining I was in a hurry early this morning.

Still nothing.

Just on an odd thought, I dropped them a similar letter from my Driver Heaven e-mail explaining that I'd really appreciate some communication since if there was a problem I'd have to try somewhere else. (I'd been using me homebox, it's what I usually use for shopping.)

I got a reply in 4 minutes, a very nice one written by a human being who said they just put thru my order and she was personally gonna see to it that it was shipped out within the hour.

I don't know if it's just a weird timing thing or if me other e-mail "carried weight" with them; but I found it weird, amusing, and not just a little bit oddly complimentary. Whatever it was, I think I'm gonna start using me DH e-dress for me geek shopping needs.

Ha, yeah. I could totally understand. When I used to work at Abbott Labs I emailed a mail order cataloge from my Abbott email and got a quick swift response like yours.

I too have found that if you us a non-generic email (hotmail, yahoo, etc.) you do tend to get much better results dealing with things online.

So I'm not just being weird here? Good, then I'm feeling a quiet sense of accomplishment.
