House Votes to Fund Manned Mars and Moon Missions

The House passed the bill 383-15 to send man back to the Moon and eventually on to Mars. This measure supports Mr. Bush's ambitious space exploration plans to the tune of $34.7 billion.

Originally $1.3 billion in funds was to be shifted from exploration to other NASA programs, but after administration objections the money was added back in. Bush's missions "should not be done by cannibalizing other NASA missions," one lawmaker said.
