exclamation Back to the Future Trilogy DVDs defective

I was reading the review of the Back to the Future DVD set at IGN when I came across something disappointing. The second and third discs are incorrectly framed, and as such, basically defective. The "fixed" version won't be out until February.

Quote:
In this DVD set, both Part 2 and Part 3 are framed incorrectly in many shots, which crop out some action (such as the hoverboard in one shot late in Part 2). This is a problem, as it is noticeable, such as some scenes where Doc or Marty reach for a button on his futuristic jacket, yet you can't see what they're doing since the framing has chopped out the action.

If it weren't for the framing issues, the transfer would be an 8, at least. But thanks to the fudging up of the widescreen transfer, the image is basically defective. Universal will be offering replacement discs in late February 2003, but as of right now all those discs on store shelves basically feature defective transfers on parts 2 and 3.

UberLord will become famous soon enough

That sucks. But at least they're being pro-active about it!

They also seem to be being pretty quiet about it.. IGN is the only place I've read about this, which is why I'm trying to let other people know. I know how unhappy I'd be if I bought a 3 disc set only to find that the last two discs had noticable visual problems.

I was really looking forward to this set. I guess I'll just have to wait a little bit longer, now.
