Man Arrested for Bigamy After 3 Wives Meet at Hospital

Melvyn Reed's triple bypass surgery gave him a new lease on life and ended his years as a double bigamist. British police confirmed that all three of his spouses turned up at the same time, despite his efforts to stagger their visits.

The three wives realized something was amiss and held a meeting in the parking lot where they realized they were all married to the same man. The 59-yr-old man pleaded guilty to two charges of bigamy after he turned himself in willingly to police.

He was given a suspended sentence of 4 months and ordered to pay only $126 in fines. Metropolitan Police said Reed married his first wife in 1966, then left without divorcing her. He married his second wife in 1998, and his third in 2003.
