All BA Flights to and from Heathrow have been cancelled until Friday evening due to spontaneous unofficial strike action by ground staff. Baggage handlers, ground staff and loaders took strike action to protest the sacking of 600 catering staff.
The Catering staff were sacked by Gate Gourmet, a company that services meals for BA's flights. Gate Gourmet made the decision to sack 600 employee's because of an unofficial strike held on Wednesday over restructuring plans. Other airlines affected by the strike include Sri Lankan Airlines, Finnair, GB Airlines, British Mediterranean Airlines and Qantas. BA stated there is little they can do, as the dispute with Gate Gourmet is outside of their control. Source

Got to love wildcat strikes, sake them all and give the jobs to people actually willing to work, its all well and good striking in sympathy, but they arent the ones who have to pay out to the standed flyers, and have to endure confusion over when you actually get to fly.
