TheBlackCat is an unknown quantity at this point

Thanks! It had better look clean, I spent days organizing the wires alone.

The MX700 wasn't the fastest mouse, but it still worked very well. However, the left clicker eventually wore out. I can click but can't click and drag. So I got an MX610 laser cordless, which is what you see next to my keyboard now. I keep the MX700 because my keyboard goes through the same reciever and for anything that requires a lot of clicking but no clicking and dragging in order to reduce wear and tear on my new mouse.

I don't know why the pictures are so grainy.

Here's my desk, taken all the way from sunny South Africa 5 minutes ago:

Yes, it's a Asetek Vapochill case.

The top compartment houses a 180W compressor.

Well, I actually got it for a bargain.

I bought it from someone emigrating at the time so I paid around $300 US. That's our local currency converted though, I think the exchange rate was a bit better then, so I could be off.

Things like that are a rarity here, so you usually pay an arm and a leg to get one. Vapochills locally are around $1300 US brand new. It was a good deal by comparison and I'm happy with it.

The monitor is what really makes me smile though. I just can't get over how no matter what you put next to it, you just can't capture its size until you see it in person (they too are awfully hard to get here).

This one is the 2405. It would've taken a long time for us to get the revised 2407s here and that's if we're lucky.

Besides, Zardon said the 2405s were better

i just did a google search for "dell 2405fpw" and the 2nd thing that came up was a review done by DH . gave the monitor props all the way around basically.

but the thing that i was looking for was a date on that review. i never found one. then i looked on dell's website for the 2405, but came up with the 2407 instead. each of the 3 different 2407s that came up said that they replaced the 2405s. the only thing that i can think of that would cause dell to replace the 2405 with the 2407 is a higher contrast ratio. i dunno if that's true though . the 2407s start at $747 (USD), and the "best" one goes for $788 (USD) and has a 5yr. warranty. i'd get the "best" one simply because of the extra year of warranty it has.

I read the review long before I ever thought I'd even be able to get the screen.

I based my decision more on the following post though:

Quote:
As for the 2405 and the 2407, ive used them side by side, the 2405 was the better panel, better colour and no difference to my eyes on refresh either - and trust me if anyone is picky about a screen its me. the 2407 and the 3007 are getting some really negative reports, research on google and buy with caution even with the firmware upgrade. - Zardon

The 2407 is newer, but not necessarily better. If I remember correctly they had the same issue with their 20" range as well.
