spyware.. grrr..

think I've picked up some spyware along the way somewhere. What do you all recommend I use to clean, no DESTROY! it??

I see it says win9x and win2k. But is it compatible with winXP? and THANKS

yes it will work with xp. i am running xp and used it with no problems

thanks guys! ad aware worked GREAT! only 7 items (cookies) on my pc but wifey's had 31! Everthing from reg entries to folders in program files

All clean now though

A message going around, is that Ad-Aware is DANGEROUSLY out of date - the sig file has not been updated for a while, and the rumoured version 6 is still not here.

Spybot S&D is another alternative

I installed ad-aware and then a "refupdate 2.01 for ad aware" that supposedly updated it?? refupdate was listed on the lavasoft download page...

Last reference update appears to be 24/09/02 - and is reportedly UNSAFE with the current version of "Common Name"

Have had posts removed, been banned etc.

I just read a couple of posts and announcements.

THEY seem to be saying that the V5 engine is not worth updating - but they seem to be totally flatfooted on getting V6 out.

For the moment, Spybot S&D is under active development, and delivering updates, while Adaware is stalled, update unknown, release of V6 unknown!
