Woman pricked by needle at Athens theater

ATHENS — A hypodermic needle that pricked a woman in a movie theater was intentionally taped to a seat to injure someone, police said.

In the needle's syringe was a small amount of what appeared to be blood but authorities had not yet identified it.

The needle and syringe have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to examine the liquid, to see if it contained any diseases and to check for fingerprints, Maj. Keith Morris of the Athens-Clarke police said Tuesday.

The needle prick happened Saturday as the woman, whose name has been withheld, went to see a movie with a group of friends, police said. She told police she felt a prick in her thigh when she sat down. Duct tape had been used to attach the needle to the theater seat, police said.

So far, the woman has not shown any ill effects from the prick, Morris said.

i live in marrietta, and quite frankly, it's all "atlanta" in my book...the whole freakin megalopolis is goign to hell in a handbasket(athens, marrietta, buckhead, atlanta, etc etc)

Yeah, I pretty much concur. I'm in Marietta, too. I work in Acworth and man, there's been a load of murders and stuff within just a couple miles radius.

Someone walked into an Ernie's Steakhouse right across the street and shot his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend. Killed him.

Then, just a couple weeks ago was that carjacking where the woman was killed when the carjacker pulled in front of a cement truck. A passersby chased him and shot him dead in front of a Raceway. Before that, an ex-husband walked up onto his ex-wife's property and stabbed her to death in the front lawn. All of these were just within a mile of one another.

It's just getting too freaky.

I'm suprised no one has done the needle thing before, so easy and cost effective way to scare some one (or several people) shitless for an indiscrimanent amount of time.

I can actully invision how this could be done.

Needle is ducktaped under the seat, pointing out just far enough that when you relax your left or right leg you will prick your self.

Or you could put it in the fold between the seet and the back rest of the chair...

Dosent help that theaters are dark ether... and your talking to friends... and lots of other ways it could have happend.
