I Now Bat For The Other Team

Thats right folks.

today, I ditched firefox and started using Opera (cue instant )

it's great and all, but I've couple questions

first up, here on DH, my msg writing seems to have been 'simplified' ??
how do I get it back to the way it used to be?

here's a screeny of what I mean:

even adding an image works completely differently!?

the other thing is, anyone know where in the heck firefox bookmarks are kept???
I can't find them.

do excuse my ignorance, I'm an Opera nOOb.

It all seems good aside from that though.
the scroll wheel sems much smoother and accurate, and I like that I could get all matching skins in notime at all

That's normal for opera. I think it's because of the wysiwyg editor and opera either doesn't or doesn't fully support it...

btw, when i first saw the thread title, I thought you meant something completely different

Thought this thread was about something... else...

Anyway, the WYSIWYG of the DH forums does not work the same in Opera. Basically, you will just have to get used to it (at least I did, you will too).

Firefox bookmarks... cant you just export those from the File/Export tab (or something like that.

Anyway, you will grow to love Opera, just stick it out for a couple days andeverything will feel like butter.

P.S. Opera seems to work rather poorly at DH. Posting messages is EXTREMELY slow, and it takes forever to add smileys, links, photos. I have gone to just typing in the codes instead of using the buttons (sometimes wrongly, as you can see above).

In firefox, it doesnt just export them for you (ie. "Export Firefox Bookmarks")

If not, I'm sorry, I dont know what else. Maybe somewhere in the firefox folder, under your profile name. I'm sure its an HTML doc (at least it was when I used firefox.

Yes, export them out of firefox and it will save as a file, and then in opera's bookmark manager, choose import netscape bookmarks by rightclicking or pushing the file button.

I just use the quick reply box at the bottom of the page in opera. Once you get the hang of bbcode you don't need all those fancy-shmancy buttons anyway.

edit: oh, make sure you learn and love mouse gestures.

Ive never found that, opera works instantly for me at home, perhaps your cache is set too low and you are constantly reloading files from the server. Because once they are cached they dont need to reload (they dont on any browser).

As for opera, yes the WYSIWYG editor doesnt work with opera the way it does with firefox (IE gives the best actually), but I tend to work with codes rather than the editor unless im copying and pasting HTML I want with layout preserved etc.

Back to the thread starter, make sure to search for opera in our forums we have loads of threads regarding it, including some mini guides I (and others) posted for optimisations and appearance customisations as well as skins etc.

Be sure to check out the gestures, once you get used to them there is NO going back. best windows browser on the net !

Here's the link to meguiDdo skin. It's really nice, but I still prefer the stock skin. Zardon's right though, with the midnight heaven skin, it looks great

Hosscrop is on a distinguished road

From the "Bookmarks" menu select "Manage Bookmarks"

Now you will have a new toolbar and on it is "FILE" with a down arrow next to it. Click on it to get the following off the menu

"Import Netscape/Firefox bookmarks" and it will grab them for you.

I switched to Opera a few months back and recently used Firefox to browse a site on a friends PC and thought "How many adds? I don`t get those" sure enough I didn`t when I got home and tried the same pages.

getting a handle on the mouse gesture thing, it's really quite cool.

works real well too. when I read about it first I thought it would be like the ClickLock mouse thing in windows, which only seems to work when you don't want it to, but opera is really smooth.

so far I'm impressed

and btw, I'm not gay
