AVI corrupt

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I posted it here.

I downloaded a large AVI file (700Mb), and I think it's corrupt. I can watch from my hard drive, but I wanted to convert it to SVCD. When I try (with several apps) it says unsupported format. I suspect it's corrupt. So what I wanted to know is there any program I can use to fix the file corruption?

Thanks - Dom

The thing that first came to mind was that the codec being used to decode the avi isn't properly installed with said apps, and you were using a codec-specific app that didn't really need the codec properly installed to run coughdivxcough... if I'm right about the codec, try reinstalling coughdivxcough and see if that fixes things... (reboot too!).... and if the file is corrupted, there really isn't anything at all which you can do about it...

Oh, so good! I am just so good I used to tinker around a LOT with divx and all that stuff, and so I learned a couple of tricks and fixes to some problems along the way, this being one of them. Hope you're enjoying your movie

Why bother converting it to what......2 cd's per 700mb movie.... Seems pointless to me. Just use S-Video (or composite) to watch it on a TV. How the hell do I watch my 300+ divx movies......like that.
