Yahoo Messenger

I just started using yahoo messenger and none of my friends have it. I'm sick of AIM and I hate where AOL is taking it (triton). I'm ready to give up and move on to a much better service.

Be my friend?

My name is the same as this one, yayitsandrew.

Lonely.... I'm so lonely... I am so lonely.... all on my ownnnn...

I've been long sick of the AIM, MSN, and Yahoo clients.

Trillian all the way

I've played with the gmail chat thing it's not that great. Plus google chat is FAR behind the other clients in terms of features.

Trillian is nice except it has too many bugs and it isn't developed often enough. I own a pro license but I can't use it until they fix a lot of things.

I like the yahoo messenger client a lot because I use yahoo music unlimited and yahoo calendar and it ties in nicely with those services. The client is also very feature rich.

Oh god, lets hope they pass development onto people who can actually program and we dont end up with gmail java botched application for chatting.

Pro isnt too bad right now. I use it - mainly because MSN looks terrible and the alternatives are pretty poor. a few things are broken in trillian but they are things I dont really use. What are the issues you find with trillian?

I'm using MSN and prefer it over AIM or Yahoo anyday despite the overwhelming ammount of ads.

I agree the MSN network is the best medium for chatting. (I still use ICQ too however via trillian).

There are ad removers for MSN btw. and being a designer you should really look into trillian - MSN support is good, it is so much prettier with everything able to be skinned. I made my own skin which is not only very pretty but is streamlined and much easier on the eyes than the mess that is MSN messenger.

I used Trilian a while ago, but MSN support was iffy at best back then.
I also remember it crashing or failing to connect allot so I'm hesitant to give it another run.

Has worked fine for me for the last year, never crashed. funny thing is, I went to try that new MSN beta and it wouldnt connect for me, and when it did it crashed immediately. Not a bad thing mind you after seeing the interface, talk about bloatware !

It would show me as signed on, but I wouldn't receive messages from anyone. This would cause people to be talking to me and I had no idea, so I couldn't respond. No idea what caused this, but it made my gf pissed at me one too many times. I'm not getting into arguments with her because some software is buggy.

Plus like I said before, the lack of development is a REAL turnoff to me. If you're developing an application in a highly changing area like instant messengers, I expect you to at least change with them. When I talk to you trillian users over yahoo messenger now, I can't even send pictures. That's been a feature of yahoo since August 2005, apparently. Unacceptable.
