Maxxuss Unlocks Skype's Intel-Only Feature for AMD Platforms

"AMD's massive case againt Intel continues to mount, and Skype recently became the most recent subpeona winner over controversy surrounding the Skype 2.0 release. AMD has also reported that some vendors that previously sold AMD processors or products containing AMD parts no longer do and according to documents authorized by Intel.

One of the features that was meant to be available on Intel processors only was Skype's 10-person conference call feature. On other platforms, the application limits itself to 5-users and the setting cannot be changed. Recently, a well known hacker named Maxxuss, has released a patch for the current version of Skype to unlock the full 10-person limit on all platforms. Maxxuss is also responsible for the anti-TPM hacks used to allow users to install Apple's OS X for the x86 platform on generic systems. Maxxuss himself says:

If it’s a CPU with “GenuineIntel” branding and has at least two cores, then allow 10 users; else limit to 5 users. First Apple, now Skype, and who’s next in the lame Let’s-lock-out-AMD game? Is someone afraid here? Let me guess..."
