It's been an interesting year for ATI. The original plan to launch their next generation part, the R520 went astray, just making it into the market in October of 2005, instead of the spring or early summer as planned. This forced ATI to make hard decisions on their planned refresh part, the R580 series. ATI chose to launch R580 in the beginning of January of 2006, making the X1800XT and X1800XL an extremely short-lived product. Prices on the X1800XT and X1800XL are currently at $479 for a X1800XT or $388 for an X1800XL.The replacement X1900XTX sells on Pricewatch currently for $575.
