Radiation From Electronics Devices Fuels A Retail Niche

Emil DeToffol sells accessories for cell phones, but doesn't own a cell phone. Neither, in fact, do many of his customers.

This seems like a riddle, but it's solved when you learn that DeToffol's Albany, N.Y.-based store sells products designed to protect people from electromagnetic fields -- or radiation -- given off by cell phones and electronic devices.

The existence of DeToffol's store, called Less EMF, points at a larger riddle facing the cell phone industry: whether the electromagnetic radiation emitted by cell phones poses a health risk.

Like the sun, cell phones do emit some radiation. There's no disputing that. There is dispute among researchers, however, over whether that radiation poses harm.

b0ris84 is on a distinguished road

thats a total lie

the waves that come out of cellphones are not strong enough to break apart atoms and cannot cause any problems. Penn and Teller proved it on their show. It's another way for someone to make an easy buck

They are microwaves though, aren't they?

Guess we've all fried a few brain cells somehow - and the brain does heal (very slowly) after all...

Actually the long-term effects are all still a mystery, and cell-phone companies sure aren't going to bother with researching it! Phones actually put out pretty strong voltages at very close distances, i.e. jammed up against your brain they can't be good for you. Use a hands free and you're fine.
