Default Post 1.8GHz m478 Celeron Released

Just when you thought everything there was about the Celeron was over, Intel move the Celeron over to m478 - just like the old Pentium 4 processor. The new 1.8GHz Celeron runs at 100MHz FSB and expands the current line up of m478 boards to more value sensitive chips.

Why can't they just kill the Celeron already, it is quite scary.

well as much as people hate the processor, you got to admit the pricing is really good, and for some people its more than enough power.

I agree with Zardon, for some a Celeron 1.8 is plenty.

I'm really poor. Well not really, but i dont have a lot of money, so i might pick up this one. Celeron have always been known for it's oc ability. And i saw some reviews of this one and it looks really nice, if you consider it's only half the price of a normal p4. Just my thoughts. :-)

Personally I am an AMD man, but for sure, go for it.

(Or pick up a cheap Athlon XP )

wow a NEW celeron needing another NEW motherboard to power it because its on the P4 architecture.

hmm, how has intel NOT made the celeron value?
oh yeah, by changing the socket more than nvidia releasing video cards.

first celeron = slot1
Mendocino celeron = socket370
coppermine celeron = socket370(some mendocino mobo's needed upgrade to handle cumine)
tualutin celeron = socket370 (does NOT work with non-tualutin mobos)
P4 celeron = socket478 (does NOT work with socket370)

And now the VALUE processor has just become a not so value processor.

Still, i like celeron (heck i HAVE one)

The new celeron is great, go check out tomshardware's review. A willy w/ half the cache sounds horrible but intel somehow did it right
