Online gamer punished with virtual crucifixion
Banning online players for in-game offenses is common, but a new multiplayer game has gone a step further. Roma Victor, a game set in Roman-controlled Britain, has virtually crucified a player for killing other players repeatedly. Cynewulf, a character played by a Flint Michigan resident, will hang in a public square for seven days. Other players have been stopping by to watch and even taunt Cynewulf.

this game will not be getting any support from me whatsoever. I find turning such a serious and religious matter as such into an online,virtual "joke" to be atrocious...

theres nothing religious about crucifixtion. it was a very popular form of execution during that time period. just because one crucufixtion was religious doesnt mean the hundreds, if not thousands of others were.

Crucifixion was hardly (if ever) performed for ritual or symbolic reasons; usually, its purpose was only to provide a particularly painful, gruesome, and public death, using whatever means were most expedient for that goal. Yeah it is true that it isn't inherently "religious".. but it is a very important part of many religions.. I can see why some would be offended. If Christians were Muslims there might be chaos in the streets in some counties.. Think about what some of those guys did because of a dumb cartoon a few weeks ago.

Ya stop bitching please Crucifixtion wasn't invented for Jesus. The game takes place in that time period so it is accurate to have that. Yes the graphics do blow.
