Acceleron64(tm) Servers
At Linux World recently, Einux announced the Acceleron64(tm) family of 64-bit dual processor AMD Opteron(tm)-based rackmount servers including the A1840, the first Enterprise-class Opteron(tm)-based server and the A1820, the first Carrier-class Opteron(tm)-based server. Based on AMD's latest 8th eneration Opteron(tm) processors, the Acceleron64(tm) servers are designed to provide optimized 64-bit performance while maintaining backward compatibility to 32-bit x86 applications. The Acceleron64(tm) A1840 & A1820 servers will be showcased in AMD's booth (#507) at the Linux World Conference and Expo being held this week in New York.
One of the main concerns of 1U servers is how to cool the heat generated by high performance processors such as the Opteron(tm). The Acceleron64(tm) servers have been engineered to perform optimally in high temperature environments utilizing Einuxs patent-pending ServerKool(tm) technology, which allow the Acceleron64(tm) servers to perform in up to an unprecedented 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celcius) operating temperatures. A copy of this thermal report is available upon request. Designed with the mission-critical Enterprise in mind, the Acceleron64(tm) A1840 is the first 1U server with support for 4 hot-swappable hard drives making it perfect for enterprise applications requiring the highest data integrity. Plus RAID 5 can be added for ultimate data integrity and redundancy and Fibre Channel and iSCSI SANs connectivity to external storage arrays can be added as an option making it perfect for ERP, database and data-intensive applications. Other advanced features include support for up to12 GB of DDR333 ECC memory, a Ultra 320 SCSI controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces, hot-swap fans and a cold-swap 350W power supply, another industry first. For the highest availability possible, the Acceleron64(tm) A1820 features Carrier-grade features including the first 1U server with a hot-swappable 350W+350W redundant power supply system. Other features include support for up to12 GB of DDR333 ECC memory, 2 hot-swappable SCSI drives, a Ultra 320 SCSI controller, dual Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces and hot-swappable cooling fans making the A1820 perfect for applications which the require the highest availability and reliability such as those in the telecom and financial industries. AMD's 64-bit Opteron is the next generation in processing and Einuxs Acceleron64 servers will allow Enterprises to fully harness this power in a high-density, cost-effective 1U server platform, said Rex Wong, President of Einux. The Acceleron64(tm) A1840 and A1820 servers are currently being validated by several Fortune 500 enterprises, universities and research institutions. The Acceleron64(tm) servers will be shipping concurrently with AMDs launch of the AMD Opteron CPU processor in 1H03. Einux is currently accepting pre-orders for the Acceleron64(tm) servers at its website at http://www.einux.com/about/acceleron64.php on a first-come, first-serve basis. About Einux Einux is a leading developer of high-density server, storage and networking solutions.
