AMD's new Socket AM2: it's no Conroe-killer, but it's not supposed to be

For those of you who've been following the coverage of AMD's 2006-2007 plans here at Ars, Anandtech's new benchmark results for a prerelease version of AMD's forthcoming AM2 socket format will come as no surprise. The combination of AM2 and DDR2 doesn't offer any real advantage for AMD at this point, because their processors aren't yet bottlenecked by memory bandwidth.
