Gates says tech can help make Vietnam a miracle economy

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has said information technology, including software development, could help Vietnam move into the league of Asian "miracle" economies within a decade.

"I have a very strong optimism, not just about our activities here, but about all the new developments taking place in the country," Gates said during a day-long visit after meeting government heads, IT business leaders and students.

Gates pointed to the "Asian miracle of great economic growth" and said "clearly I see that over the next decade Vietnam will join the list of those miracles."
