Wal-Mart to Sell Build-To-Order PCs

Source: BetaNews
__________
Soon Wal-Mart customers will be able to build their own computers through the expansion of a pilot program in 1,200 of its 3,200 stores in the United States. 200 more would join the program by the end of the year, and possibly more during 2007, the company said.

The new program is a departure from Wal-Mart's current strategy of selling pre-packaged systems. Consumers would be able to choose various components to build their own PC, including processor, monitor and other computer specs.

They really don't know what they are getting themselves into. Building a "made to order" machine is just fine. What they need, and this is where I think Wallmart is underestimating this, is support. Anybody with 1/4th a brain, that can follow instructions can build a PC. It's the support after the fact that makes or breaks your biz. All I can say is, good luck.. cuz your gonna need it.

well they can hire some knowlageble people, the company is very big thay have a power to do so. i think, the policy of the company is the most important, its more than anything else sometimes.
but as you may know there are not easy to get a real knowlageble people.
they are a lot of people out there who think they can be a technical support or as a helpdesk support personel. i'm getting paid from my friends who own computer parts and builder stores, not actully by a real money but we are sharing something else in returns. i give them some small consultants, do an employee interviews for them, a bit of everything. so i know a few things about these tech support peoples.

there is plenty of self-confident people out there Judas.
i don't know how they are doing with their business, but if they have been making money every day selling other things, they already know very well how to run their business. for them, starts selling computers or tries something new is not that hard.

was refering to walmart hiring someone to build the machines.... and i don't think anyone out there would jump on that if they already had there business running.. unless...... they offered a considerable sum of cash and agreed to a few dozen guidelines....

*gears a worken*...

building the machines is easy, likes mentioned before, you know it.
they can hire and train people to do it, same thing goes to everything and anything that they wants on this new business. i mean, they probably have all the manpowers they needed already.

for starter, they would want some knowlageble people who will be in the top positions if they are not already have them, they will have these people somehow. then for the lower positions and the rest they can do hire and train (hire for attitude and with some signs of knowledge in the area, and then they can be trained for skill and company's policy).
