Digital and packaged media video game sales will reach 19 percent of game market by 2010, up from 8 percent, according to a report released Thursday.

The U.S. video game market reached $6.8 billion in 2005 on sales of software used by consoles, personal computers and mobile phones, says Jupiter Research, a division of Kagan Research Inc.

The research firm said online distribution of video games reached $835 million last year. PC and console downloads contributed $43 million; cellular phones, $279 million; and physical shipped media $514 million.
