Cisco posts fall in profit

Cisco Systems on Tuesday posted a fall in quarterly profit on stock options expensing.

Cisco reported net income of $1.4 billion, or 22 cents per share, for its fiscal 2006 third quarter, compared with $1.405 billion, or 21 cents per share, in the same quarter last year.

Excluding items, Cisco earned 29 cents per share, compared with analysts' expectations of 26 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.
