DH Review: G.Skill F1-4000BIU2-2GBHV

Read the review here
_________________

The HV series from G.Skill is a 2GB PC4000 kit which can run at 250MHz (500MHz DDR) with only 2.6V. They can run with 3/3/2/8 timings as well, which makes them by far the fastest high speed 2GB kit available. Older PC4000 2GB kits could run only with 3/4/4/8 timings, which had them performing considerably slower than the new HV series.

Nice review, and I think these would be perfect for my 2GB mem upgrade coming soon hopefully.. My mobo seems to like running at 250FSB... default multiplier to get a nice OC on the CPU..

My mem is pc3200 in a messed up configuration- (2x256 and 1x512 ) I can't run 1T or dual mode because of this or run it at 1:1 HTT/FSB
I need to run it at 4x CPU multiplier .... and then it turns out to run at 400MHz with very low latency. Obviously the mobo/CPU combo is being held way back and a 2GB matched set of ram would open it up to it's full potential..

Do you know if these are using Infineon or Samsung chips? If mentioned I missed it..

Heres a write up over at xtremesysytems about the RAM, seems is infineon ce-5 chips, does look quite tasty! wander how they would work on an aging A8V??

Interesting...

Brand OCZ
Series Platinum Edition
Model OCZ5002048EBPE-K
Capacity 2GB (2 x 1GB)
Speed DDR 500 (PC 4000)
Cas Latency 3 Timing 3-3-2-8
Voltage 2.8V

$244.99 ($214.99 after $30.00 Mail-In Rebate)

the G skill is $239.99 (NewEgg price as of May 17 2006) - it changes all the time..

Not sure if Corsair has an equal set... None at NewEgg anyway- that I could find.

Both nice sets I am sure..

EDIT

Then there's the Mushkin "eXtreme Performance" Timing: 3-3-2-8
for $260.99!!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146034

The G Skill is probably Infineon chips...

EDIT- Oh I didn't see post #4.. doh...

Yeah I noticed that.. could be an advantage for stability.. or something..
I'll have to find some peeps with my exact mobo over at the Asus forum and see if anyone has tries these G Skill sticks with it... Should work fine though.

Too much later I'm afraid.

True enough, they carry Infineon CE-5 chips.

Which exact motherboard is yours? They appear to work fine on an Asus A8N-SLI, so they should be working fine in your system as well.
