Symantec Seeking Beta Testers
Source: BetaNews
__________ Security software vendor Symantec is seeking beta testers for its 2007 line of products, including Norton AntiVirus, Internet Security and Norton Save & Restore. The company also has a number of new products in the pipeline, which will be provided to the Symantec Beta Testing Team. Interested users can complete the brief registration process on Symantec's Web site. The company has also added an electronic non-disclosure agreement to ease the process. "Participants are expected to remain active throughout a project lifecycle and communicate issues to Symantec team members," the company says. |

No way I'm gonna be a Symantec guineapig.
Once you have their software installed, the only way to get completely rid of it, is Windows reinstall... Thanks, but no thanks.

Lol. Are they gonna buy me a new PC after i'm done testing their next product? Nope...
My friend tried Norton 2005 beta just for fun. It screwed up his PC so bad, even BIOS needed overflashing. |

I signed up on their testing site some time ago. I currently, still, run Symantec Antivirus on all of my Windows Computers. (SAV is A.K.A Norton Corporate Edition) I have no problems with any of their products.
SAV seems to use around 40MB of memory. What is so "bloated" about that. I can't even tell it's running. I do have 2GB of memory though. I hope to take part in their Vista product testing and I plan on using their products in the future. (Mind you, I do get SAV free from work) |

but when you are HC gamer you count every byte of RAM used so ... I can play BF2 and COD2 fine with NIS 2006 at the back.

![]() I am a gamer. Not maybe HC but still i game a lot. I don't count every bit of my RAM. I don't use Norton or SAV because i don't have to: Why would i give up "my precious" NOD32 system This baby has everything:It's so fkn lightweight, it only takes 10 MBs of RAM. It has real time protection which eats no resources what-so-ever. It usually has 2-3 updates every day and those updates take only 1-2 seconds to download, install and continue it's work. NOD32 is the best known AV system and i'm not gonna give it up.Now, can we compare Symantec with that? How many updates per day, how long does this take, how long are the scanning times? I don't know because i haven't used Symantec's software for a long time so maybe someone could give me some information? A little apology: That friend who's PC got screwed because of Norton 2005 Beta forgot to uninstall his Mcafee stuff before and then 2 AV's collided and it had catastrophic consequences ( damn, so much hard words, phew). So it wasn't really Norton's fault. |

I've used norton for years, I was even "norton certified". Nuff said,,,,
By all means lead me to a better and cooler looking AV firewall? You can't really compair scan times due to the fact some scanner do not scan as deply and if you set nortons hieritics up or down it affects this and the quailty of your results. Alot of these others tend to give alot of false positives
