ATI Technologies Thursday disclosed some of the details concerning the code-named R600 graphics processing unit (GPU) and said the part will not only support the new features and unified shader architecture, but will also become the company’s highest performing graphics chip when it comes to wide-spread DirectX 9 applications.

But i do not love the price of these

G80 will not have unified shaders right ??

As i heard Nvidia is not going to follow ATI in these right now but they are going to use some other method...but Nvidia is tightly lip right now

I dont think prices are that bad, yeah it costs alot when just releaed, but prices drop fast due to the competiton, eg. a 7900gt is alot of card for a low price.

If this number is correct it will very much own what NV likely has to offter.
Again this card is like haveing 64 vertex pipes or 64 pixel pipes or any
combination there of what ever the the devloper chooses....

Νvidia will not follow the Unified shader technology with G80 right now as ATI R600 will do
BUT
that does not mean that they do not have something else in their sleeve...

It's early to make assumptions
